The Stack of Books Just Fell Over...Again

Well, this one was no suprise...a counselor once asked me, "so when did you discover that reading was a neurotic escape?"

Answer: "When I found out that I could get out of doing the dishes if I looked studious."

Hibernia girl--

I think you and I have been exposed: probably some Joycean gene in our DNA, while atheling2 and heroyalwhyness are virtuously studious.

So tell me, H. Girl, where did *you* hide when you wanted to read?

Hey, I read Joyce. Actually, I took a class in college, "Joycean Studies". Read Dubliners and Ulysses... blew me away.

Have to thank the Jesuits fathers and the Benedictine nuns for my literacy...

My mother never recovered from the fact that the Catholic Church took Joyce off the Index of Forbidden Books and started teaching him in Catholic colleges.

"Is nothing sacred anymore?"

"No, Mother...and you can take the brown paper cover off your copy of Ulysses now."

"Ah, I only did that to protect the cover."

"Nooo...you were sneaking it onto the boat at Liverpool, remember?"
