A big tip of the Bodissey pickelhaube to our commenter Jolie Rouge, who has provided us with a brand new acronym. The occasion was an observation about BBC 17/01/2013 This Week (the link only works in the UK):
Andrew Neil and Michael Portillo are joined by former UN secretary-general Kofi Annan and Alastair Campbell.
Interesting conversation — acknowledging the geopolitical threat to the West.
Note the aggressor is not named other than by geographical location (e.g.) North Africa, Afghanistan and surprisingly the inclusion of Turkey.
Amazingly they manage to avoid the JIM words — Jihad, Islam and Muslim.
I think JIM could have great utility for our enterprise: it’s concise, pronounceable, handy to use, and easy to propagate.
Who will be the first major Western politician (not counting Geert Wilders) to break the greatest cultural taboo of our time, and mess around with JIM?

Clarification and correction - in his introduction Andrew Neil does use the terms islamist and jihadi, but in the conversation concerning the geopolitical threat the dots are not joined as to calling out the comprehensive threat.

In Almenas, Algeria terror attack
1. According to journalist at Nrowegian press conference, Le Point talks about one of the terrorists as being "North European", called "The Norwegian".
Question avoided by Foreign Minister Barth Eide on Thursday evening.
2. What has happened to the hostages? Decapitation? In that case, is this why it is so difficult to count and identify the hostages not yet accounted for?
Edit
In Amenas, the gas plant
"The Norwegian"
"According to one of the witnesses, the hostage takers was called "The Norwegian"."
Le Point
"Selon un des témoins, les ravisseurs l'appelaient "le Norvégien"."
It would not be unlikely that this "Norwegian" is an Algerian, with both a French, and a Norwegian passort, in addition to his Algerian one.
Oops. Sorry about the "misspelling"!
"According to one of the witnesses, the hostage takers called him "The Norwegian"."
In other words, one of the jihadist hostage takers goes by the name "The Norwegian", according to Le Point who has spoken with freed Algerian hostages.
What is an 'Islamist'? Listening to BBC radio 4 today the presenter, leading on the topic of the recent Algerian hostage-taking, mentioned 'Islamist' numerous times but the words Islam and Muslim remained unspoken.
Thanks for the songplant.
Hey I WATCHED it live. The JIM may not have been overtly mentioned but the meaning and thoughts were crystal clear. Maybe US audiences cannot pick up the nuance but the Brits watching would have had no doubt all. Only the Beeb PC "newspeak" stopped outright accusation - even from Kofi Annan. I think we Brits may just have developed the ability to spot and understand. I certainly know that most "on the street" are now very capable of seeing past the "PC" and understanding the true picture.
There are some who make the point about indigenous Brit paedophilia.
OK it DOES happen - as anywhere. However over the last year there has been a total rash of named muslim gangs raping and degrading underage indigenous British girls. EVERYONE I speak to now believes that this is just the tip of an enormous iceberg. There WILL be civil war in the UK within 10 years
Tall blond hostage taker
Allegedly, one of the hostage takers was a tall, blond man talking to the Norwegian hostages in a foreign language, as seen from an Algerian point of view.
JIM rolls off the tongues as easily as the American NAM. And discussing American NAMs honsestly is as big a taboo as discussing JIM.
For Brit readers the clarification is necessary that while NAM means Non-Asian Minorities, "Asian" in the American context means Chinese, Korean and Japanese.

Stoltenberg, Friday night
- We must be prepared for bad news
Translation
- We have terrible news for you. To be verified. We'll talk about it later in the weekend.
Norway national song contest MGP may be postponed, due to hostage case.
I still prefer to call them BITAs*, as it is factual rather than derogatory, and the way they genuflect in the streets offends me greatly.
