Gates of Vienna News Feed 10/16/2012

Gates of Vienna News Feed 10/16/2012An Australian man who slashed his girlfriend’s face and cut off her tongue with a knife was sentenced to eight years in prison. However, because of the convicted man’s youth and the length of time he had already spent behind bars, the judge set the terms of his sentence so that he could be released on parole as early as next September. The case has a Mohammed Coefficient of 100%.

In other news, Iran has reportedly bought up billions of counterfeit dollar bills printed in China, and distributed them within the country to prop up the value of the rial, which has inflated severely in recent weeks.

The first world conference on artistic freedom of expression
Oslo, October 2012

«ALL THAT IS BANNED IS DESIRED – World Conference on Artistic Freedom of Expression»

"The Fritt Ord Foundation, Oslo, and Freemuse – The World Forum on Music & Censorship, Copenhagen, will organize the first world conference on artistic freedom of expression at the Norwegian Opera & Ballet, Stage 2, on 25 and 26 October 2012.

Artists from all genres: music, literature, film, performance, theatre, painting, photography, etc., will perform, examine and discuss where, how and to what extent constraints are placed on artistic freedom of expression, not to mention examples of the potential of art to challenge established truths and framework conditions."
