One of Pamela Geller’s newly-affixed Counterjihad posters was vandalized last night in a New York subway by an Egyptian-American woman protesting “racism” and “hate”.
Many thanks to Vlad Tepes for uploading this video:
Below are excerpts from the accompanying New York Post article:
Woman defaces ‘anti-jihad’ ad in Times Square station
Cops busted a lone protester — angry with subway ads equating enemies of Israel as “savages” — as she spray-painted over one of the controversial signs today.
A Post camera crew captured the bizarre conflict between suspect Mona Eltahawy, 45, and a woman defending the ads.
“Mona, do you think you have the right to do this?” said Pamela Hall, holding a mounted camera as she tried to block the barrage of spray paint.
“I do actually,” Eltahawy calmly responded. “I think this is freedom of expression, just as this is freedom of expression.”
Hall then thrusts herself between Eltahawy’s spray paint and the poster.
Eltahawy — an activist who has appeared on MSNBC and CNN — engaged her in an odd cat-and-mouse dance, spraying pink every time she had an opening.
[…]
Finally an MTA police officer and an NYPD cop came to scene and arrested Eltahawy.
“This is non-violent protest, see this America!” she said as cops cuffed her. “I’m an Egyptian-American and I refuse hate.”
The MTA was forced to install the controversial ad campaign by court order.
The 46- by 30-inch ads are plastered in 10 Manhattan stations, including busy Grand Central and Times Square Stations.
The American Freedom Defense Initiative, a pro-Israel group spearheaded by activist Pamela Geller, paid $6,000 for the ad space.

Mona is right. She is protesting non-violently, no doubt about that!
But, she is also committing criminal/malicious damage in doing so!
Too bad Mona you don't really understand what free speech is all about!
After having spent a long vacation in the US , I realized the difference between Europe and ther US . It lies in the fact that the US is BLESSED with an amazingly big and variated group of peoble like Pamella Hall , who NEVER gives upp no matter what .

"protesting non-violently"
Spraying possibly poisonous/allergen containing paint at someone is not 'non-violent'.
It may be free speech to say that you agree with jihad, it is not free speech to act like a jihady.
She should be made to pay for a replacement poster.
It's called vandalism, not protest.
Good to see that in the US, police still act as citizens can expect - in contrast to dhimmified Europe. See this recent example from Malmö, Sweden.

Spray painting someone who doesn't want to be painted is assault.
well, destruction of others' property in America is considered "barbaric" despite what this purported protester believes. She could have expressed her displeasure American-style: using her own FREE speech rights.
I hope they get her for destroying property, disrupting the peace, etc., and make her pay court costs.
This will give her lots and lots of face-time on the MSM...which was maybe the point. Which puts them in a nice quandry: they have to show the picture - spread the word.
Or maybe she could return to Egypt and express her sentiments there, bare face and all...
Bless her heart.
When you're a leftist freedom of speech only applies to that speech you agree with.
Unfortunately for Mona her actions have shown the poster to thousands who would not have seen it.
Googled her name, and surprise surprise, she`s an Egyptian,so probably a moslem. I would have floored her,no messing
NYC has some severe anti-graffiti laws!
Throw the book at her!
Mona is one of those "free speech" book burners.
Most Leftwingers dont support free speech, but rather "no platform" for those they disagree with. Authoritarian tyrants whove used our principles and democratic institutions against us, to subvert, undermine, intimidate and destroy us.

Yes EV, and it's time to talk DEPORTATION for treasonous people who don't know that this is America.
Somewhere along the line we lost the no-treason rule.
Anon, there is nothing wrong with book burning if they are your own books. Always discern the difference. If this crazy lady wanted to make a copy of this advertisement then burn it, that would be her prerogative. But she's spray painting other's property.
She needs to go back to Egypt since there is no Egypt-America, which she claims to exist in her.
I wonder if anyone is following this story and if she gets off easy for being a non-white, non-male, non-realAmerican. If she is not punished severely, I estimate she or her friends will soon be expressing themselves in a more toxic manner than the humiliating spraying of paint.
Muslims despise doing this kind of spraypaint protest, it's not macho enough...it's frustrating for them; it just doesn't provide the same satisfaction as maiming people. This is a woman's job, you see.
Anthropologically, Muslims can but respond poorly to weak punishments. Behaviorally, a weak punishment functions as a reward in the circumstance called "a Muslim".
@You Knew-
Generally, I don't like discussions about the 'deportation solution' because it is so often used in an irrational attack & that brings out the "kill 'em all" group.
However, your suggestion here is quite specific, if this woman is not a citizen - and I don't think she is. For someone who was assaulted and manhandled so horribly in Cairo, her actions here make me wonder if she's not suffering some kind of aftershock (e.g., idenitifying with the bullies) or if she's not simply a Leftist who can't think straight.
OTOH, I don't know who she answers to. Other than the fact that the MSM gave her story lots of time because it had their favorite ingredients - sex & violence - we don't know much about her bona fides. She appears very reactive and hysterical in the few times I've seen her...
I wonder if she was ordered to do that? I wonder who's going to pay her court costs, fines, etc.
Anyhow, I hope the terms of her sentence is an order to refrain from such action in the future or face return to her home country...if she's not an American citizen...
I also wonder to what extent the NY MTA will try NOT to pursue this.
