Gates of Vienna News Feed 12/15/2011

Gates of Vienna News Feed 12/15/2011Three would-be Islamic terrorists in Australia were each sentenced to 18 years in prison today. Unlike their American counterparts, the Australian media reporters referred to the convicted men as “Muslims”, even in The Age.

In other news, Greece hopes to ease some of its budgetary difficulties by privatizing a number of ports and airports and selling off 70,000 plots of publicly owned land. The most likely customers are expected to be foreign investors.

Italy is taking a different approach to debt reduction: it is releasing thousands of prison inmates early.

Privatizing burdensome govermnet beauracracies and selling off physical capital to investors?

Oh, My! That sounds like small government Capitalism. Exactly the opposite of what Obama is trying to do here in the U.S.

I find the Italian thing ironic, especially if tax evaders are among those released. I've heard that only about 10% of their economy is white, almost everything is black or grey, due to the tax rates.
