A suicide bomber blew up a truck outside a government building in Mogadishu today, killing at least 70 people. The Salafist group Al Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack.
In other news, the real rate of unemployment in Greece is expected to rise to 26% next year (“statistical” unemployment, the official rate reported by the government, is expected to be 21%). Retired military officers joined the demonstrations in Athens, protesting pension cuts for veterans.
Meanwhile, a proposed new ultra-modern mosque in the English town of Cambridge is receiving substantial support from prominent non-Muslims in the area.
