The European Central Bank has bought up an unprecedented €22 billion worth of bonds from Eurozone countries in an effort to control the spiraling debt crisis in the EU. Meanwhile, the latest report of a weak German GDP for the second quarter of 2011 caused the Milan stock market to drop. The mayor of the Tuscan town of Altopascio has proposed legalizing prostitution as a way to help Italy solve the crisis.
In other news, a Palestinian Liberation Organization leader protested the latest Syrian military operations against a Palestinian refugee camp in the coastal city of Latakia. He says that the Syrian bombing attack against the camp constitutes a “crime against humanity”.
