Serbia Jumps Through Endless Hoops

With the arrest of the Croatian Serb leader Goran Hadzic, the last remaining fugitive indicted for atrocities by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) is now in custody. The detention of Mr. Hadzic was widely considered the final significant hurdle before Serbia could expect to enter the European Union.

The Serbian-American historian and journalist Srdja Trifkovic is skeptical that Serbia is finished jumping through Europe’s hoops. He suspects that there will be other demands — including the recognition of Kosovo, the granting of more autonomy to Muslim minorities within Serbia, and other assaults on the country’s sovereignty — before it is allowed to join the EU.

The original of this Russia Today interview with Dr. Trifkovic contained some disconcerting audio delays due to lag-time in the skype transmission. Many thanks to Vlad Tepes for editing out the gaps and re-uploading this video:

Serbia, don't join the EU. It will all end in tears.

I've been saying the same.
