The Izzadin Kassam Brigades — the military wing of Hamas — claimed responsibility today for firing an anti-tank missile from Gaza at an Israeli school bus. A student was seriously injured, and the bus driver was lightly wounded. Israel responded with a series of air attacks on targets in the Gaza Strip, in which five Palestinians were reported killed. Hamas has announced a cease-fire.
In other news, after many months of trying to solve its fiscal problems without outside help, Portugal has requested assistance from the European Commission, which will presumably offer a bailout similar to those granted to Greece and Ireland. Meanwhile, the Greek budget deficit has risen higher than was expected, and has now reached 10% of GDP.

First through through my head is: did he should "allahu ackbar" as he did it? Colour me cynical, but it's hard to believe otherwise these days.
