Light Posting

Coffee with flyI’ve been tied up most of the day with mundane but necessary and time-consuming tasks. As a result, I haven’t had the chance to do much more than collate the items for tonight’s news feed.

To be honest, I used what little spare time I had to monitor the news stories coming out of Japan. The situation there is growing worse by the hour — there has been a third major explosion, this one at the number two reactor at the Dai-Ichi plant in the Fukushima nuclear complex. The containment structure may have been damaged, more radiation is escaping, and employees of the plant have been evacuated. A full-scale meltdown is quite possible now.

Add to that the horrific aftermath of the earthquakes and tsunamis — more than 10,000 dead, with the number expected to climb much higher, massive power outages, food and fuel shortages, etc. — and the situation faced by the Japanese people is almost unimaginable. Anything I might discuss here seems trivial by comparison.

If you are the praying type, pray for the people of Japan.
