Gates of Vienna News Feed 11/30/2010Sir Richard Branson, the founder and president of Virgin Galactic, says that his commercial spacecraft will be carrying its first paying customers within a year. Virgin’s initial flights will be sub-orbital, but Sir Richard acknowledges that his long-term goal is orbital flight — he just won’t say when that will happen.

In other news, the European debt crisis may be spreading to Italy. Although Italy’s economy is strong, it has an enormous amount of public debt, and may become vulnerable if Portugal or Spain gets bailed out. France holds a lot of Italian debt, so it may be next.

8 Al Qaeda forgers arrested in Barcelona

At least eight people have been arrested this evening in several flats of the Raval district of Barcelona and Badalona by agents of the National Police in an operation against Islamist terrorism, reported sources close to the investigation.

Security forces linked the detainees, all Pakistani nationals, with a network of document forgers working for members of Al Qaeda in different countries.

The police raids were carried between late Tuesday and early Wednesday in at least seven homes in the neighborhood of Raval in the center of Barcelona, and neighbouring Badalona. However, the operation conducted in Spain has “international ramifications” according to police, and is being carried out jointly with other EU police forces…

I wonder what he thinks of the Graeco-Roman tradition out of which it came?

I would never, ever study under this man.
He is an embarrassment to his academic honors; he should be thrown out of Georgetown and exported to Al-Azhar.
Each generation lives free, but lives foolishly if it disregards the truth of its past.
And the truth is that the U.S. and Europe are the Western World.
