Gates of Vienna News Feed 10/5/2010Faisal Shahzad, the would-be Times Square bomber, has been sentenced to life imprisonment. An unrepentant Mr. Shahzad gave a long speech at his sentencing, saying that he did not regret what he tried to do, and that the defeat of America by Islam is imminent. He also said that although he took the oath of allegiance when he became a citizen, he didn’t mean it.

In other news, the Bank of Japan cut its benchmark interest rate to 0% in an attempt to revive the country’s sluggish economy.
