Tariq Ramadan, the grandson of Muslim Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna, returned to the United States yesterday after being banned from the country for a number of years. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton signed the order allowing Mr. Ramadan in, and his first speaking gig was a panel discussion at Cooper Union College in New York City.In other news, a court in the Netherlands has forced a fundamentalist Christian political party to allow its female members to stand for parliament in the elections. Meanwhile, the Congressional Budget Office says that current American fiscal policy is unsustainable in a major way, and that a combination of tax hikes and spending cuts will be required to put the country’s fiscal house in order.
