But look who’s first on the list of signatories — Daniel Cohn-Bendit, a.k.a. “Danny the Red”.
His hair’s not as red as it was forty years ago, but I remember him very well. Back then he was a Smash-the-State-Property-is-Robbery Marxist revolutionary, but nowadays he’s a respected political figure on the European socialist Left.
And he’s decided to intervene with his fellow Jews in Israel — in their own best interests, of course.
According to ANSAmed:
European Jews Send Israel an Appeal to ‘Reason’- - - - - - - - -
PARIS, APRIL 28 — An “appeal for reason” which says it is “dangerous to have a systematic alignment with the Israeli Government’s policies” and supports the creation of a sovereign Palestinian State as a precondition for peace was launched by French and European Jewish exponents and will be officially presented on May 3 at the European Parliament.
It has over 2,500 signatories, including Daniel Cohn-Bendit, Bernard-Henri Levy, Elie Barnavi (former Israeli Ambassador to France), Gad Lerner, Aldo Zargani, and Bruno Segre.
“We know the danger also lies in the occupation and uninterrupted creation of new settlements in the West Bank and in the Arab quarter in East Jerusalem, political and moral errors which also foment a process of unacceptable de-legitimacy of Israel as a State”, is written in the appeal stating that peace with the Palestinians must follow the principle “two people, two States”.
The appeal, as Jean Daniel writes today in an editorial in Le Nouvel Observateur, is directed at the attention of those who in France and Europe “are anguished by the latest direction taken by Israel’s policies”. (ANSAmed).

A group of European Jews has appealed to Israel to use “reason” and adopt a two-state solution to resolve the issue of “Palestine”.
This would be hilarious were it not so offensive.
If anyone has shown "reason" in dealing with the Palestinians' endless terrorist attacks, it is Israel. The entire conflict with Gaza could have been ended many years ago simply by Israel shutting off all electrical power and water supplies to the region. It can only be termed as outrageously unreasonable that world opinion would demand for a country being made war upon to provide essential utility services to its enemy.
Furthermore, given the Palestinians' historic track record, it simply transcends all logic and rationality to suggest that a "Two State solution" can have any real meaning or assure anything but unending war.
Even the most cursory examination will reveal that Muslims view any sort of genuine peace with Israel as a most humiliating defeat. To concede Israel's right to exist would represent a total reversal of intransigent Islamic doctrine which declares that Jews are the eternal enemy.
Those who have any doubts regarding the Palestinians' utter refusal to seek peace with Israel should watch the documentary, "Relentless - The Struggle for Peace in the Middle East". This account of the entire Oslo Peace process provides important historic background as it details the Palestinians' complete and total failure, if not outright refusal, to comply with their own signed agreement.
For Jews, especially, to continue agitating for a Two State solution represents the height of suicidal folly. So long as Islam exists, there will be no peace. Not with Israel nor with the entire non-Muslim world.
Palestinian state now as a PRE condition for peace?
The Palestinians have shown no interest whatsoever in actually building a state. In fact, one of their first acts when Gaza was given to them was to tear down existing infra structure for a thriving greenhouse business that was gifted to them by California donors.
So who's going to build this Palestinian state for them? Maybe the Disney imagineers can be hired and paid for by the West? Maybe the Israelis can be forced to go back and build more greenhouses on the rubble of the previous ones? And will the plans include "mixed residential use" meaning rocket launching facilities mixed in with civilian residences the way the Palestinians like it?
Had Israel just not listened to
world opinion and pressure they
could have resolved this long ago.
They should have stomped their
troublesome neighbors once and for
all, kept all the land they won
in wars they did not start and tossed out the arab aquatters
with a 30 day eviction notice.
Yes, I know the global coommunity
would have pitched a fit but so
what? Egypt, Jordan, lebanon have
tons of space to take in all
the arab squatters. No arabs, no forcing Israel into a two state
sentence of never ending war and
terrorism, well maybe.
Daniel Con-Bandit... The same anti-democratic, MC/PC monkey that, in the wake of Switzerland's ban on minarets, stated that the Swiss will have to hold more votes on the issue until they (in that usual contemptuous-of-true-democracy EU speak) "get it right."
Cohn-Bendit go to hell! The only thing you have ever achieved is your own notoriety - and that silly pretentious BHL!!
