Whose Job Will It Be?

A new government is in place in Israel.

The era of Olmert has ended and the era of Netanyahu has begun. In the midst of the financial crisis, Israel faces the looming threat of Iranian nukes.

The can that everybody has kicked down the road over the last decade has finally come to rest, and it can’t be kicked any farther.

The EU spent years dickering with Iran, to no avail. Now Barack Hussein Obama seems to think he can talk to the mullahs and persuade them to give up their nuclear ambitions via the power of “dialogue”. But most of the rest of us don’t believe in such foolishness.

Iran has decided that the End of Days is at hand, that the Islamic Republic has its part to play in the Shiite version of Armageddon, and that nuclear weapons are part of the plan. All indications are that the regime will not change its mind unless it is forcibly deterred.

And who will do the deterring? Bibi or The Messiah?

The new prime minister has sent a clear message to the new president: if the USA doesn’t act, then Israel will have to. According to The Atlantic:

Netanyahu to Obama: Stop Iran — or I Will

In an interview conducted shortly before he was sworn in today as prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu laid down a challenge for Barack Obama. The American president, he said, must stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons — and quickly — or an imperiled Israel may be forced to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities itself.

“The Obama presidency has two great missions: fixing the economy, and preventing Iran from gaining nuclear weapons,” Netanyahu told me. He said the Iranian nuclear challenge represents a “hinge of history” and added that “Western civilization” will have failed if Iran is allowed to develop nuclear weapons.

In unusually blunt language, Netanyahu said of the Iranian leadership, “You don’t want a messianic apocalyptic cult controlling atomic bombs. When the wide-eyed believer gets hold of the reins of power and the weapons of mass death, then the entire world should start worrying, and that is what is happening in Iran.”

History teaches Jews that threats against their collective existence should be taken seriously, and, if possible, preempted, he suggested. In recent years, the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has regularly called for Israel to be “wiped off the map,” and the supreme Iranian leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, this month called Israel a “cancerous tumor.”

But Netanyahu also said that Iran threatens many other countries apart from Israel, and so his mission over the next several months is to convince the world of the broad danger posed by Iran. One of his chief security advisers, Moshe Ya’alon, told me that a nuclear Iran could mean the end of American influence in the Middle East. “This is an existential threat for Israel, but it will be a blow for American interests, especially on the energy front. Who will dominate the oil in the region — Washington or Tehran?”

So here we are at the “hinge of history”.

The Year of the Jackpot has arrived at last. It may be this year, or it might be 2010. It may even go all the way to the end of the Mayan epoch in 2012.

But it will be here soon.

Well, good for Netanyahu for saying this. I'm glad there are actually some sane, reasonable politicians left in the world.

I'm glad they have a new government. The weak Olmert would never have had balls to say something like that, even lesser to act accordingly to it.

Now I'm no strategist but I do not believe that Israel has combat planes that can reach Iran's nukes and return.

Nor do I believe conventional weaponry that can fit on, say, a submarine launched cruise missile can penetrate those hardened sites.

This leaves nukes. This is fine with me, I haven't forgiven Iran for the Marine Barracks bombing in Lebanon but it sure seems like those who claim to care about the innocent civilians when get off their backsides.

This will really end well.

Well, this is some good news and I am sure the mullah obamaham and his
islamosympathizing, ant-semitic cabinet members will not take kindly to Bibi's message. That is a good thing because the U.S. has no business pushing Israel around under the threat of iranian nukes. Israel does have the capability to take out the iranian nuclear facilities, or at the very least, severely damage them. If it takes
some tactical nukes, so be it. The threat from iran stretches far beyond Israel. Israel is the epicenter, the canary in the coal mine. The threat to the entire middle east, Europe and the USA is right there, for all of us to see.

The Olmert/Livini gov't was without
balls or moxi. It was an embarrassment to see the Israeli gov't run from such a position of weakness. Israel cannot count on Washington's assistance with iran. The mullah obamaham is too busy apologizing to islam on a global scale, talking to iran and syria. Thinking he can convince these islamofacist states to give up their evil totalitarian ways. They have and will continue to play BHO and his ship of fools for the morons and ignorant idiots they are. Israel should not be under estimated and nuke 'em till they glow, if need be.

Peter, "I do not believe that Israel has combat planes that can reach Iran's nukes and return."

You may have missed recent news reports of IAF strikes against convoys of trucks in Sudan carrying arms for Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

'No place Israel can't reach'

'Israel attacked Gaza-bound arms convoy 3 times'

Once Israel is out of the way, Iran will be more than happy to supply any organization that is islamic with nukes, if they're willing to use them on the kuffar, whether they be in Europe or North America. This way they can avoid taking responsibility for it and avoid retaliation. If Israel falls, european countries will also fall like domino tiles.

Is it true that Hussein Obama's first phone call as President was to the Palestinian government i.e. Hamas? At any rate he has been kissing up to the mad mullahs of Iran showing no understanding of the Muslim mind at all (despite his own early indoctrination) which interprets all concessions as weakness. They respect only the "strong horse" and know that Obama's riding a (Democratic) jackass.

Meanwhile, a large majority of diaspora Jews (over 80% in the US) still vote for and financially support left wing parties, the ones who are weakest on Iran and have made pets of Palestinians.

Jews in Israel are on their own, and even they are divided amongst themselves.

A house divided falls.

It is hard for others to remain motivated defending Israel's right to exist when worldwide Jews themselves seem indifferent, in some strange fugue state where they continue to raise money to plant trees in an Israel that may soon cease to exist, if Iran has its way uncontested. Similarly, their official organizations chase after pimply faced wannabe "nazis" instead of confronting the new Muslim threat that rode in to every Western nation via multiculturalism and is preaching hatred of Jews in mosques on every street corner. Worst of all, Jews in high places are actively denouncing Israel's tactics and the IDF.

What motivation is there to help those whose own tribe is betraying them? Are we supposed to be better friends to Jews than they are themselves? We cannot save everyone from themselves.

It appears that leftism is trumping Jewishness and as we see in other contexts, the end point of surrendering one's mind to leftism is cultural suicide leading to actual passive suicide by not fighting back.
