A Manifesto for Effective Policing in Bedfordshire

Kevin Carroll, the joint vice-chairman of the British Freedom Party, is running for Bedfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner. Below is his manifesto, which was recently published at his campaign website.

Kevin Carroll in Walthamstow, Sept. 1 2012

Kevin Carroll — “The People’s Candidate” for Bedfordshire PCC

Manifesto for Bedfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner Election 2012

In Brief

It will be my overarching goal as Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) to make Bedfordshire a county where criminals truly fear the consequences of crime; where women, children, the elderly and vulnerable feel safe to walk in town centres, streets and housing estates by day or by night.

My commitments as Commissioner

  • Zero tolerance for extremist and terrorist activity in Bedfordshire.
  • Zero tolerance for possession of knives and other weapons.
  • Robust and decisive measures to cut drug-dealing and drug-related offences.
  • Put the needs of victims before those of criminals.
  • Zero tolerance for anti-social behaviour that blights the lives of many Bedfordshire citizens.
  • Strong measures to protect children from dangerous drivers.
  • Aggressively pursue so-called ‘honour’ crimes.
  • End politically correct, two-tier policing.

My Credentials

As a proud Lutonian born and bred, I can think of few greater honours than to be chosen by the citizens of Bedfordshire to serve as their voice on policing and crime in our county. The PCC role will be a demanding one, and my aim here is to show the people of Bedfordshire that I am the right individual for the job.

The transition from Police Authority to elected Commissioner in November 2012 represents a major shift in the way policing will be managed, potentially making police far more accountable to the communities they serve. But for this new arrangement to work will require a PCC of dynamism, drive and dedication, someone who knows the county like the back of his hand, a natural communicator who can build bridges between the police and public.

Gates of Vienna News Feed 9/20/2012

Gates of Vienna News Feed 9/20/2012Muslims in France have condemned the publication of Mohammed cartoons in Charlie Hebdo. Muslims in Afghanistan staged street protests over the same issue. And the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt says that France must take decisive action against the magazine for publishing cartoons that insult the prophet.

In other news, the Australian Senate failed to pass a motion sponsored by the Greens to condemn the “hateful anti-Muslim views” of Geert Wilders, who has applied for a visa to speak in Australia next month.

An Appeal From Fjordman

It doesn’t seem like a year, but has been that long since Fjordman last launched a appeal for funds. He asked us to post the message below, and you’ll notice a “Donate to Fjordman” button on our sidebar. If you click that, the money will go directly to him.

Anyone who wants to help out can add the Fjordman widget to their own sidebar. Drop us an email (gatesofvienna [at] chromatism [dot] net) and we’ll send you the necessary HTML code.

Fjordman

I haven’t posted any appeals for donations since late 2011. That’s partly because I have managed to stay afloat until now, but also because I don’t want to abuse the charity of my readers. I have decided that asking for donations once a year seems about right. No one can get rich from blogging, in any case.

I have been living on temporary addresses for a full year, with kind help from friends, after I was forced to evacuate my flat in Oslo in 2011. I intend to be installed in a new flat, hopefully also with a new job, within a few months. I will not move back to Norway but will live in exile for the foreseeable future. Apart from that, I will continue writing as before.

Last year’s donation drive was via Vlad Tepes blog. This year a new donation button for me has been introduced on the sidebar at Gates of Vienna. As I did last year, I will send a thank-you email to all of the donors individually, although I have to warn you: may take a few weeks before I have time to do all of them! If the internet has been functioning properly, all of you who donated last year have received an email.

Since I am asking for donations, it’s only fair that I tell you a little bit about my future plans.

At the time of writing, I am completing the manuscript for a book that will be partly about the Breivik case. I have chosen to call it Witness to Madness. This will probably be self-published and should be in circulation at Amazon.com and other venues within a few months, by early 2013 at the latest, most likely as both an ebook and as a printed paper book. At the time of writing I have surpassed 51,000 words that have already been edited and largely proofread. I am editing an analysis of Breivik’s so-called manifesto that will not be published in advance online, but will be exclusive to the book. When this is added within a few days, the word count for already edited material will be about 70,000 words.

Strictly speaking, this would be long enough to publish a full-length book if I so choose. However, I wish to include a bit more material before I publish, partly about how I experienced the Breivik case — including my meeting with Norwegian police — partly about Breivik’s psyche and the trial, and finally a section about the mass media and dishonest journalism. I have the option to include even more material than this, for instance about Islamization and Western appeasement.

Flash Mobs and Glass Bombs

Burnley is a northern working-class English town. It’s in Lancashire, just across the Pennines from Bradford. The following look at what happens in Burnley is not something you’ll see on the MSM. But it’s the REAL story:

Why Islam Does Not Belong in the Western World

“Islamic aggression is caused by Islamic teachings.”
Fjordman

Why Islam Does Not Belong in the Western World
by Fjordman

Many observers in the press thought that I would disappear as a writer after I stepped forward with my real name during the Breivik case.

They were wrong.

I will continue using Fjordman as a pen name, but I have no intention of changing my views as Peder Jensen, either. I started out writing about Islam. I later diversified to include other subjects, too, since there are many things wrong with the modern West, but I do not regret what I have written about Islam previously. I told the truth then, and will continue to do so in the future.

The fact is that the much-vilified Islam-critics and so-called “Islamophobes” have been entirely correct in their comments and analyses for years. Political leaders and media commentators throughout the Western world keep telling us that Islam is at heart a peaceful religion which is being abused by “extremists” and that continued Muslim immigration to our countries is good and should continue. They are not telling the truth.

Yes, mass immigration can be a problem by itself, also of non-Muslims, but Islam is a uniquely aggressive and violent creed. No other major, established religion on this planet stipulates the death penalty for criticizing or mocking its founder and its teachings. Traditional Islamic law does. That’s why no other religious community on Earth behaves the way Muslims are doing globally this September, attacking Western embassies in multiple countries over a single, somewhat amateurish movie most people had never even heard of. Attacking embassies can easily be seen as an act of war. The people and groups doing this have already declared war on us and our societies, whether we like this or not.

Needless to say, movies, cartoons, novels and other objects merely constitute convenient pretexts as targets for the eternal Muslim rage and aggression against the rest of humanity. What these riots and threats are really about is imposing dhimmitude on the West, as Bat Ye’or has prophetically warned. Muslim leaders — from the Prime Minister of NATO member Turkey, via the Western-backed Muslim Brotherhood President of Egypt, to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the largest voting bloc at the United Nations — are pushing for national and international laws or speech codes banning any criticism of Islam, its founder and its teachings. Although Western mass media virtually never explain this to their audiences, this would essentially imply submission to Islamic law and Islamic rule.

For over a thousand years, Islamic teachings have stipulated only three options for non-Muslims: Convert to Islam, submit to Islamic rule as a virtual hostage in your own country, or fight. Once you start kneeling to Islam, though, there is no going back. You will have to live on your knees every single day for the rest of your life, and your children and grandchildren will be condemned to doing the same, under an eternal shadow of fear of Muslim abuse, violence and aggression.

Mischief

Islam means “submission.” If you are not willing to submit to Islam or Islamic rule then Islam is your mortal enemy, always has been and always will be. Yes, Islam itself. Not “radical Islam,” “militant Islamism” or “evildoers abusing the peaceful teachings of the Koran.” Islam.

Forget Apologies — Time to Convert!

Ezra Levant talks to Jonathan Halevi about the Muslim Brotherhood, the Mo-Movie crisis, and some very interesting things that a “Canadian” sheikh has to say about what non-Muslims must do to make amends to the Ummah.

Truth in Advertising

The American Freedom Defense Initiative, Pamela Geller's group, has won another round on behalf of free speech. Those subway ads are going to start appearing, at long last.

CNN carried the story:

A controversial advertisement that critics say is hateful toward Muslims will appear in New York City subway stations starting next week, despite the city's attempts to halt the campaign.

New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority initially rejected the ad, which reads: "In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat Jihad."

The authority's decision was overturned last month when a federal judge ruled that the ad is protected speech under the First Amendment.

Jihad -- Arabic for "struggle" -- is considered a religious duty for Muslims, although there are peaceful and violent interpretations of what it means.

The American Freedom Defense Initiative, which produced the ad, has been fighting to place the message in New York's subway system since last year after the authority refused to display it.

"We don't think it's controversial," said Pamela Geller, the executive director of the American Freedom Defense Initiative. "It's truth. The MTA has run anti-Israel ads before and no one had an issue about it. 'Any war on innocent civilians is savagery': What's controversial here?"

Starting next week, the ads will be displayed in 10 of the city's more than 400 subway stations. The exact locations have not been selected by the transportation authority.

Geller said she had no qualms about releasing the message amid ongoing protests against an American-made anti-Islam film clip that led to the death of the U.S. ambassador to Libya last week.

"If it's not a film, it's a cartoon, it's always some event," Geller said. "I will not sacrifice my freedom."

She noted that other places such as San Francisco have had these ads appear on buses with disclaimers next to them.

Meanwhile, the usual suspects are decrying this "hate" speech:

Time To Give Up Moral Relativism

In an interview published on Monday, Ayaan Hirsi Ali talked to Die Welt about the current upheavals in the Muslim world in reaction to the West’s “blasphemy” against Islam and its prophet.

Many thanks to Hermes for the translation:

“The West should finally defend its values”

She is threatened for having criticising Islam: the Somali-born Dutch publicist Ayaan Hirsi Ali speaks about the revolts in the Muslim world and the reactions to them.

Die Welt: A new episode of worldwide violence and protests against the insults to the prophet Mohammed has begun — now sparked by an insignificant YouTube video. In the past there has been a Fatwa against the author Salman Rushdie, violent protests against the Danish Mohammed cartoons, and also against you — your film about women in Islam. And your collaborator in the making of this film, Theo Van Gogh, was assassinated by militant Muslims, after which you had to disappear. Is there something different in these protests compared to the previous ones?

Ayaan Hirsi AliAyaan Hirsi Ali: I would say that these revolts come from a single mold, because all have a common origin: a political ideology embedded in a 1400-year-old religion and culture which leaves no place for criticism towards its founding father and its sacred texts. As soon as it comes to the Koran and the Prophet, the Muslims feel insulted by any work they consider to be disrespectful regarding these two symbols: from the actual Koran-Project in Germany, which represents a serious scientific work, to the infamous video from YouTube. For the average Muslim, these are both equally attacks against their faith.

Die Welt: A difference from past protests is that these are taking place following the Arab spring. In the meantime, people can now express their opinions and have elected leaderships like the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. Islamists are now in the mainstream and they are as angry as those people the West has otherwise branded as the militant sector. How do you evaluate this?

Ayaan Hirsi Ali: What we see as a result of the protests in the Arab World is an aversion towards tyrannical governments — regardless of whether it is a secular dictator or a religious monarchy. We see — and this is something I’ve always said — a strong support for governments which have as their basis political Islam, in the countries where the dictatorships were overthrown. The mainstream of the Brotherhood has never made a secret of their approval of a kind of political and moral frame based on Islamic legal principles. That’s why we should not be surprised that the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood have felt offended due to the negative representation of their moral guidelines.

Die Welt: While US President Barack Obama holds onto freedom of speech, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan says that insulting the prophet cannot be considered freedom of speech. Are these opposed positions compatible?

Gates of Vienna News Feed 9/19/2012

Gates of Vienna News Feed 9/19/2012As promised, the French satire magazine Charlie Hebdo went ahead and published more Mohammed cartoons, some of them showing the prophet naked. Muslims around the world were outraged, and the magazine’s website was brought down by Muslim hackers. A Syrian organization took time out from the country’s civil war to file a complaint against Charlie Hebdo.

In other news, Islamic protests about the Mohammed movie spread to Sri Lanka, where demonstrators took to the streets of Colombo to demand that the makers of the movie be hanged.

Geert Wilders: Banned from Oz?

Geert Wilders has been invited by the Q Society to speak in Australia, and he is scheduled to make two appearances there next month. But he has yet to be issued a visa to enter the country, which after three weeks is an unusual circumstance.

The fact that his visa is being held up — and that he may be denied permission to enter Australia — just happened to come to light immediately after last weekend’s Muslim riots in Sydney. As a result, Mr. Wilders’ case is getting a lot of coverage in the Australian MSM.

Many thanks to Vlad Tepes for uploading this Australian TV news report:

The Australian columnist Paul Sheehan weighed in on the same topic in an op-ed for The Age. Some excerpts:

The Anti-Muslim MP Not Allowed to Visit Australia
by Paul Sheehan

My hands are tied. This, in essence, is the response that Chris Bowen, the Minister for Immigration, has given to questions in Parliament this week about why he granted a visa to an Islamic fundamentalist, Taji Mustafa, who spoke over the weekend at a conference organised by Hizb ut-Tahrir, a group notorious for religious intolerance, disdain for Western values and sympathy for jihad.

“Hizb ut-Tahrir has not been proscribed in Australia and nor has it been proscribed in the United States or the United Kingdom,” Bowen told Parliament on Monday. “This entry permit was issued in accordance with the normal procedures for British nationals.”

So Taji Mustafa came, spoke, and, by unfortunate coexistence, the weekend was marked by a violent demonstration by a group of rabidly anti-Western Islamic fundamentalists in Sydney.

What nobody knew was that at the same time, the minister had been sitting on a visa application by a member of the Dutch parliament who is an outspoken opponent of Islamic fundamentalism in the Netherlands and Belgium.

Gates of Vienna News Feed 9/18/2012

Gates of Vienna News Feed 9/18/2012The French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo is in the midst of another controversy after announcing that it will publish more Mohammed cartoons tomorrow. The offices of the magazine were firebombed last year after it published similar cartoons, which grievously offended Muslims.

In other news, the Chinese sent warships to the waters around the disputed Senkaku Islands. China’s most powerful military leader has ordered the forces under his command to prepare for war with Japan.

Grab The Moment While You Can

Anon commented on my post about Andrew McCarthy’s new book. What started out to be a response turned into this post. Answers do that sometimes…they just jump up and run out the door before I can stop them.

By the way, this wasn't his/her whole comment, just the first paragraph or so.

Whenever we see muslims rioting in the streets, we must take to the streets en masse to show who we are and what we stand for

I agree with you to some extent, but with the proviso that we do this when they are rioting in OUR streets. They can mess in their own mean streets whenever - as they say around here, "it don't confront me none" since we don't have to clean up the mess. Yes, I feel sorry for our embassy workers in those pestholes, but a plane ticket home and a Help-Wanted section of the newspaper is the best remedy for being put in harm's way by the stupidities of our government. No wonderful federal pension plan is worth risking life and limb and family.

Domestically, I would like to see a large, nation-wide protest when Morsi shows up to schmooze with Obama. That is a moment for quiet principled opposition, when our enemy shows up in our Capital. However, unless someone like Glenn Beck or the Tea Party gets behind that, it's not likely to happen. And right now, they're working overtime on getting Obama un-elected.

We must make their bed-wetting nothing but a pipsqueek on our cities across the world.

Sovereignty being what it is, that is up to the other cities "across the world". Based on what we've witnessed so far, some cities are more willing than others to take a stand. I read somewhere recently that Singapore is fifteen per cent Muslim. When was the last time you saw any Days of Rage in Singapore? Or even five minutes of group grievances? It's a matter of community will, in much the same way that Israel doesn't have to install a risibly obese TSA dinosaur to check out those flying in or out of the country.

On the other hand if other places want to let their immigrants and enrichers throw tantrums, we're free to comment on it...at least we are at the moment. If Cairo and Clinton and Obama succeed in silencing us, our freedom to kibbitz will be severely limited.

*   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *

Let's show our politicians that we are not the "extreme right wing" and we are no fringe movement: we are the no-longer silent majority (!), we are the people...

That "extreme right wing" cliché is a global MSM meme. It’s simply what they say and not to be taken for anything resembling reality. As for those pols who depend on our vote, well, they're not going to say that, now are they?

The pols on the Left? Simply write them off and get busy canvassing your district in favor of the candidates who don't talk like that or think that way.

*   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *   *

we have spoken and you had better listen to us if you value your political careers, since you don't seem to value anything else.

Amen. The Tea Party is skilled at follow-up on "their" candidates. If they go thru the trouble and expense of helping elect someone, they follow his voting record, they show up at his Town Hall meetings, they write him, they write ABOUT him or her. In fact, the easiest way to get involved in making substantive change at several levles is to join your local Tea Party or ACT!For America. Your choice would depend on where you live. These two groups are all that is standing between real conservative representation and a Republican machine controlled in Washington.

The current administration's use of about fifty Muslim Brotherhood members in positions which require a security clearance they couldn't pass is being fought by only FIVE Congressmen. They're called the "Lonely Five” by now. Do you know if your Congressman is one of them, or is he or she hiding in his or her office??

The lack of support for the Five by their colleagues on the Hill is shameful. And if your congressman is not standing behind them, it ought to worry you. It worries me that mine, Rep Hurt, is missing in action. And I will continue to tell him so. When Republican primary time rolls around again, I'll be looking for his replacement if he doesn't get it.

At the state level, Virginia is already compromised by Republicans all the way to the top. Our governor is a fellow traveler and has accepted MB monies. New Jersey is worse. You know we're in trouble when Christie, who gets lots of campaign money from state Muslims, bullies anyone who stands against family court judges who use sharia law to make rulings in domestic violence. And that's the man the RNC chose as keynote speaker. But let's face it: this is one of those hold-your-nose-and-vote-moments.

Disgusted yet?

FOR EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO STAY IN CLOSE CONTACT WITH HIS OR REPRESENTATIVE, here’s a good place to start, a recent post with information on all our reps:
