Well, it’s official: the world didn’t end on December 21, 2012. The Mayans were wrong. This wipes an entire industry devoted to selling stuff to apocalypse suckers enthusiasts — maybe the federal government will step forward and create a new program, Assistance to Victims of the Mayan Long Count Scam (AVMLCS). One more bailout fund won’t hurt anything.
In other news, Eric Boswell, the assistant secretary of state for diplomatic security, resigned after his agency was found wanting by the official report on last September’s fiasco in Benghazi. Two other lower-ranking officials also resigned.
Meanwhile, an Italian branch of the Greek nationalist party Golden Dawn is preparing for the upcoming elections in Italy. Members say they are inspired by Mussolini’s policies, and hope to make a good showing at the polls.

Why Has the Number of Muslims in the UK Risen So Much?
"You have probably guessed the answer! But what will surprise and shock you is what Huffington Post readers actually say!"
The comments are in the negative, noted this gradual shift in opinion accross the comments sections of the mainstream web several years ago, the Anders Behring Breivik case appears to have had no significant negative impact on that shift.
Begs the question in the U.K. what would the political response of the left be towards islam in the event of a left wing grass roots fall out with islam?

Got bad news for you guys . . .
End of the Calendar?
Maybe you miss the point Jolie Rouge, the Left don't care how bad Islam is, as long as the Right is defeated. The end justifies the
excesses. What's so significant
about Islamic expansion is that for the Left it offers a once in a lifetime chance not just to defeat the Right but to totally anihilate
the Right forever. The fact that it also is likely to mean the end of the Left is IMMATERIAL to them. It's a kind of Kamikaze/911 attack on their perceived enemies.
I suppose that we English can take comfort from the fact that, although we are probably now only 70% of the population of our own country, the doubling of the muslim population might affect Scotland more than England as there are more muslims per head of the population there and Alex Salmond is so immigrant friendly that his independent Scotland would welcome many thousands more of them with open arms.
I see that Saudi Arabia wants English speaking doctors and nurses. There's an exit strategy for the muslims in our NHS then.
The only people that Anders Breivik has affected, apart from the 20% of our population who are no longer White British, are our government who are now gripped by the paranoia of a possible similar attack by a "lone wolf right wing extremeist" here and are probably reading what I am writing at this very moment.
If the muslim population here is now 5% and they continue to double at that rate as they undoubtedly will then in two or three decades they will certainly have enough clout to affect every part of government policy. The main parties will be fighting for their votes and those votes will come with strict conditions regarding the islamification of Britain, sharia law etc. Still, look on the bright side, by that time France, Holland, Norway and Sweden will probably be in a worse position than us.
Did somebody say that the Mayan end of the world thing was really about phases of civilisation? Was this last phase about 2,800 years?
Isn't that just about the life of European Civilisation? Seems they knew it was about to end about now then? Or perhaps they just knew it was going to be crunch time. Hopefully!
Baron,
Don't blame the Maya.
They never predicted that the world would end on December 21, it's just the end of a long count calendar.
All the nonsense is a modern invention and it was also obviously a "nice little earner" for unscrupulous opportunists.
They actually believe that the world ends at sunset every day and is reborn at sunrise the next day, so they're always right (or wrong)
People just get bored.
Anon @ 6:06pm --
Oh yes, I know -- I was being sarcastic. Check out my "news" report from yesterday morning and read what the Mayan spokesman had to say.
"Alex Salmond is so immigrant friendly that his independent Scotland would welcome many thousands more of them with open arms."
Alex Salmond 'a big fish in a small pond' of progressive civic nationalism.
The possibility of the progressives losing control of the Nationalist movements within Scotland is real.
Particularly as the British State retreats and becomes more and more hypnotised and influenced by the multikulti power base of London.
One strong voice resonating from the wilderness can shift the destiny of nations.
