I laughed out loud at this… ahem… indiscretion by a young Greek athlete. Not so much at the gag itself — which is mildly funny, if you’re not politically correct — but at the fact that someone of her generation had managed to escape indoctrination to the point where she could tweet such a thing.
But one has to wonder how she could have been unaware of the inevitable consequences of her little joke. What was she thinking?
From Yahoo Sports:
Greek Triple Jumper Removed From Olympic Team After Making Racist Comments on Twitter
LONDON – Greek triple jumper Voula Papachristou was banished from the Olympic Games on Wednesday after making racist comments and expressing right-wing sentiments on Twitter.
Papachristou was scheduled to fly to London next week from her training base in Athens when the Hellenic Olympic Committee – Greek’s Olympic federation – made the decision to expel her from the team.
Papachristou, 23, made a racist and tasteless comment on her Twitter account, @papaxristoutj, that highlighted the number of African immigrants in Greece.
“With so many Africans in Greece … at least the West Nile mosquitos will eat homemade food!!!,” Papachristou wrote. She also reposted a comment from controversial Greek politician Ilias Kasidiaris, who has strongly criticized his government’s “soft” immigration policy.
The West Nile virus was first discovered in Uganda, but cases have recently been found during the European summer. Papachristou’s tweet was met with a flood of angry responses, but she didn’t respond until Wednesday, when it became clear she might lose her spot in the Olympics.
“I would like to express my heartfelt apologies for the unfortunate and tasteless joke I published on my personal Twitter account,” she said. “I am very sorry and ashamed for the negative responses I triggered, since I never wanted to offend anyone, or to encroach human rights.”
By then, it was too late. Greek Olympic chiefs consulted with senior members of the Greek parliament, including aides to Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, before making their decision. Part of the reason for the expulsion was to punish Papachristou for her actions, but the decision was also made in hopes of avoiding a backlash from anti-racism protestors at the Games.
The financial crisis gripping Greece – where strict austerity measures have affected the lives of millions – has forced the country to rely heavily on corporate sponsorship to fund its Olympic program. Officials feared that contributors may rethink their commitment if Papachristou remained on the team.
Hat tip: alcade.

I had a bit of a chuckle too. Nothing this girl 'tweeted' was even mildy racist. The PC brigade can see 'racism' in just about anything they wish to.
the h.o.c is obviously all jacked up on p.c. steroids.they shoud calm down and seek help.
Judgement made on a political basis.. Is that roman justice?
So, African Muslims may eliminate Greeks via active aggression of terrorism or passive aggression of excessive immigration or breeding, but Greeks must refrain from making the most trifling joke about the invading Africans.
Is it racist to say that there are too many Africans living in Greece - Africans who are in part CAUSING its financial meltdown by stealing their Alinsky share of unearned and undeserved benefits from the Greeks?
The larger issue is that the PC MC rulers will use this pretty blond girl as a very public poster girl of the draconian penalties to be imposed upon any dhimmis who dare to joke about their own demise - let alone publicly support a non-PC MC political party.
Egghead
A rebuke, media condemnation and demand for an apology (which she gave) would have been par-for-the-course for this type of statement, in days gone by.
Yet now, it results in Greece losing an Olympics competitor, who may have won a good result, and maybe a medal, for her country... So is this yet another PC MC showtrial, like the John Terry racism case in Britain, which ended-up in court, designed to make normal people tremble for fear of saying the "wrong" thing?
She's probably removed not so much for her own comment, but more to instill fear in others who might dare uttering similar non-controlled and potentially offending statements.
Rule by Fear, not by law :(
And yet there was no moment of silence for the murdered Israeli athletes, which is racist if anything is (both the original act and the recent refusal to acknowledge it.) Funny how the people behind that weren't chucked out of the olympics, eh.
"The financial crisis gripping Greece – ... – has forced the country to rely heavily on corporate sponsorship to fund its Olympic program."
That would be precious if there weren't so many suffering...(Being saved by a Capitalist entity...)
at this point we can expect all Greek Olympic competitors to protest against Papachristou being tossed out and force the Hellenic Olympic Committee to reinstate her.
What do you mean they wouldn't dare?
Are they cowards or just too well indoctrinated - and is there a difference?
The bottom line to this and other persecutions of Europeans is that the socialists/cultural Marxists have won. I have personally given up the fight and now spend time with my family. Its a shame to see a good civilisation go to waste.
Actually, I have heard they offered her a reprieve if she agreed to change her name to PapaMoamethou.
Frankly, if I may be so bold, I couldn't disagree more with the posters above, and the general mood espoused by this post.
Racism in general(EVEN if it's couched in oblique references to region-centric parasites) should be condemned outright; this blog has ALWAYS done a good job at distinguishing PC-roguishness, from genuine Fascists and Neo-Nazis.
The problem is this, I think, which does our(if I may also stake my claim in it) movement a great injustice:
We must insist on integration; that's the problem. Africans, Maghrebi, Asian, &c, should be welcome(within reasonable limits, irrespective of race, obviously), AS LONG as they integrate into and ingratiate themselves with their host societies.
This athlete, clearly, with her referencing a "Golden Dawn" politician(the "controversial" one you mentioned in your article)-a known Neo-Nazi, Holocaust-denying, anti-Semitic party, should belie any notion of a "harmless observation":
She decried the presence of Black people in her country, regardless of their status, or how law-abiding they were, Muslim or not.
One thing I also found distressing was how they included "right wing sentiments" in her list of sins. Does this imply she could have been similarly treated if she'd expressed disfavor with the tax code, etc. I realize "right wing" has a different connotation in socialist Europe, but that Orwellian statement is certainly chilling, if not surprising.
Don't mention the kaffers. I did once, but I think I got away with it. To paraphrase Fawltey Towers.
To the poster of 2:03, YOU are wrong, she didn't decry the presence
of black people in her country, she
merely OBSERVED their presence in large numbers. Her statement is
harmless and cannot be taken as aggressive or nasty, and it is quite a good joke. The Union of West Nile Mosquitos might be slightly offended of course.
She's a triple jumper for goodness sake. How important is she in the grand scheme of things? Not very.
She's not some higher up politician who wields power nor is she leading rallies with thousands of people hanging on her every word, and doing whatever she says.
This smacks of the Dixie Chicks - they criticised Bush and all of a sudden it was big news. I was like, the Dixie who?
This is just one more example of people who actually do wield power making an example of someone pour encourager les autres.
The point is not what this girl actually said, or the context in which she said it. In and of itself, that doesn't matter.
The point is that a policy of Gleichschaltung is being enforced - and everyone needs to understand that - that's the point.
First Gold Medal for Voula Papachristou for freedom of speech, leaving behind the cowards behind in a mind boggling confusion of retarded political correctness in which they are scared to death by not saying nothing, laying every word on a goldscale being afraid of being accused of not being a communist. One could say that Voula is growing up fast by this experience. To the ones who decided to pull her off the olympics for such a joke(funny or not, but at least she got 1 laughing): you're pathetic at least for convicting an athlete for an expressed thoughtcrime! Very sad indeed!
Alas, another figurative "beheading" from the Saudi Arabia of Multiculturalism: Britain. -- RoR
I think the idea is that we, the civilized world, are supposed to getting used to shutting up, like a reflex if we even think of saying anything.
This is why the infiltration is so dangerous, because it has become a huge PC machine that is trying to control our speech, and our minds even.
We must keep laughing and at the same continuously stay conscious what is going on and why.
