Below is the prepared text of the speech I gave at the Brussels Conference on Monday.
Free Speech After Breivik
July 9, 2012
European Parliament, Brussels
Just under two weeks from today will be the first anniversary of the massacre in Norway of 77 civilians, many of them teenagers, by the mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik.
For the purposes of today’s discussion I would like to put aside the sheer incomprehensible horror of what Breivik did that day. The magnitude of his crime, and the suffering of the survivors and the families of his victims, have been covered at length in media news reports and commentary.
I propose to bracket the incident itself for a moment — put it in a black box labeled “The Butcher of Utøya”, close the lid, and set it to one side — while we examine the ripples of events after the massacre as they washed over the dedicated opponents of Islamization across the entire Western world.
All of those who struggle every day to resist the advance of shariah in Europe felt the effects of the massacre immediately, within twelve hours after the last shot rang out on Utøya, as the finger of blame pointed in their direction.
Gates of Vienna, the blog my wife and I manage, was at the epicenter of the controversy last summer, due to our close working relationship with Fjordman, the pseudonym of the Norwegian writer Peder Jensen. In the weeks following the killings, Fjordman and our site were referred to as “Breivik’s mentors” because we were mentioned and quoted so many times in the killer’s “manifesto”. The epithets hurled in our direction were always extreme, sometimes vile, and occasionally threatening. And they continue to this day.
One does not have to posit a conspiracy to “weaponize” Anders Behring Breivik to account for the coordinated attacks aimed at critics of Islam. The weapon was loaded, cocked, and ready to fire as soon as an opportunity afforded, long before Anders Behring Breivik drove into downtown Oslo that afternoon. The campaign designed to destroy the “Islamophobes” had been prepared well in advance, and was simply waiting for a psychopath like Breivik to step forward and pull the trigger.
I experienced a sense of déja vu during those ghastly few weeks after the massacre in Norway, but it was several months before I understood what had prompted it. Hunkering down and taking enemy fire simply for speaking out against the Islamization of Europe — when had that happened before?
The answer, of course, is that the sense of similarity was prompted by what occurred right here in this auditorium at the European Parliament almost five years ago. The participants in the 2007 conference had no idea that they were about to become victims of a carefully coordinated series of left-wing attacks prepared well in advance of the event.
Most of those who attended that year’s conference will remember the aftermath, when a series of slurs orchestrated by the then-popular blogger Charles Johnson caused so many of us to duck for cover. We were subjected to the same sort of mud-slinging that is even now aimed at us — we were “neo-Nazis”, “fascists”, “haters”, “racists”, “xenophobes”, and on and on and on. You all know the litany.
Mr. Johnson was fed his material — a mixture of disinformation and distortions — by several left-wing groups here in Europe, including the notorious “anti-fascist” outfit Expo in Sweden. Regardless of whether he believed everything he published, he appeared uninterested in fact-checking any of it, provided that it served to damage those Europeans who love their countries and want to preserve their cultures from destruction.
The post-Breivik attacks have been of exactly the same type, although they were of course far worse. The similarity is no accident: the global alliance of Leftists and Islamic organizations has prepared an arsenal ready to be used against us whenever the opportunity arises. Their purpose is to shut down any criticism of Islam and shariah. They seek to damage and discredit those who hold such opinions. Their actions are intended deter others who might express similar views by presenting them with prominent examples of Islam-critics who are arrested, or harassed in the street and at home, or fired from their jobs, or hounded day and night by the left-wing media.
None of this is a coincidence. The playbook for it was written long ago, and serves to implement the agenda of the OIC. Part of Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu’s famous ten-year plan involves silencing any significant criticism of Islam in the West. We are more than halfway through those ten years, and Professor Ihsanoglu is more than halfway to his goal. Islam-critics are being silenced. Free speech is being destroyed in the United States, Canada, Australia, and Western Europe, with the complicity of democratic governments ostensibly committed to civil liberties and universal human rights.
I invite you to notice the means by which these nefarious goals are being accomplished. Our miserable house is being destroyed from within by our hands, to paraphrase the apt description contained in the 1991 Explanatory Memorandum by the Muslim Brotherhood.
To state it plainly: we are being induced to turn upon one another and denounce our colleagues in the vain hope of escaping the label of “racist” or “fascist”.
This sort of fratricidal conflict occurred after the attacks by Charles Johnson in the wake of the 2007 conference, and it occurred to an even greater extent after Breivik. To preserve their reputations or careers, Islam-critics were pressured to repudiate other Islam-critics on whom the label “fascist” had stuck. Prominent writers felt it necessary to “distance themselves” from Breivik — even though the murderous psychopath had nothing whatsoever to do with them or what they stood for.
This is how the enemy aims to conquer us — by dividing us one from another. By making us take stands against each other instead of against the oppressive ideology that plans to destroy us. By making us fearful and avoidant of those who should be our closest friends and allies.
This audience is obviously an exception to what I have just described. Anyone who is willing to come here to the heart of Eurabia and listen to speeches by Mark Steyn and Lars Hedegaard and Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff has been immunized against all the bilious epithets that may be flung at him.
This audience has both talked the talk and walked the walk.
Yet it is important to remain conscious of the inexorable pressures that are brought to bear against us, if we are to continue to resist them. There will be other occasions when these sorts of attacks will be mounted against us, and the next wave may be even more powerful and more ruthless than the last one. What lies ahead may be far worse than the vitriol that has been aimed at us over the past year.
We must resist all attempts to fragment us and turn us against each other. We must remember who our friends and allies are. We must support each other in the struggle to preserve free speech and resist the tyranny of shariah.
As Jesus said, and Abraham Lincoln later reminded us: “A house divided against itself cannot stand.”
I will not repudiate nor distance myself from anyone who shares the same goals and adheres to the same principles. We all stand for individual liberty and the time-honored values of Western Civilization.
What need is there to repudiate any of that?

This is a very apt statement, particularly regarding England, where the most vocal "nationalist" groups are of two casts: one is bent on realizing all leftists caricatures of nationalists, and so spends its time denouncing Jewish conspiracies and quibbling about World War II, castigating any dissenters; the other is so fearful of appearing "racist" that, if it denounces Islam, it must bow down to sub-Saharans, and, if it denounces sub-Saharans, it must clasp hands with Islam, to show that it is "egalitarian" and free of impure thoughts.
To modify Nietzsche,
"In England one must rehabilitate oneself from multiculturalism by showing in a veritably awe-inspiring manner what an anti-white racist one is."
My thanks to you and all others who stand in solidarity against the globalist bomb throwers.
Folks are just going to have to stand up for what they believe irregardless of the verbal arrows shot at them.
Laugh at the SPLC, ACLU labeling attempts and smear lunatics like Charles Johnson and others on the Left.
And it's not just you folks who are their targets. It's the border security people, in Europe the pro-Nationalist movements, those who oppose our horrible free trade practices and rampant globalization, the same goes for those who want to be proud of Western history and our contributions to Science, philosophy, etc.
Here's the thing. You can't appease the Left and certain traitorous elites who are promoting a closet totalitarianism, you either buy totally into their agenda or you are their enemy. No amount of truth or honest research about Islam will change their minds.
Get used to being the enemy.
In Europe it is becoming obvious that the first confrontation is to be between Muslims and Jews. Ethnic Christian Europeans are just burying their heads in the sand, terrified of being called racist and saying "we're going to be muslim". And yet left-wing Jews have been in the forefront of multiculturalism. Presumably because they thought their great enemy was European Christendom. I assume they thought that if they could reduce European Christians to also-rans in their own continent then all the New Europeans would be on their side. What were they thinking? European Christians and Jews should now be joining forces to protect Europe's Judaeo-Christian heritage against the cuckoo in the nest. Look at Oslo, Toulouse, Malmo and even Manchester where a Jewish centre has been attacked. And now, supreme irony, the left is thinking of banning teaching of the holocaust in England because it offends Muslims who deny it. And yet the same left made sure it is the only thing that most English kids know about World War 2 because it proved to them the evils of nationalism. Basically these left-wingers are pretty stupid but then there must be some pretty short-sighted Jews. In England this controntation is just the first. The next will be Hindu against Sikh, Muslim against Hindu and Sikh and then black against Asian. We will probably have fled to Australia by then, if they can accommodate about 50m of us. And it was so simple when England was 99.9% English with half a million Jews (unlike the muslims they are not increasing in number which must worry them a trifle).
Yes, I hold my hand up, we British have for the last 60 years had the most stupid and spineless politicians in the world. We have just been told that one fifth of our entire army is to guard London for the 2012 Olympics. Plus the missile launchers on blocks of apartments. I am glad I live 300 miles away and couldn't give a hoot about the Olympiad. I wonder if anybody will now turn up to watch? Our soldiers are being brought back from Afghanistan for the purpose so Islam has our government well and truly by the .....We are surrounded by them. The majority of our muslims are Pakastanis and it is a duplicitous Pakistan that is shielding Al Qaeda and no doubt supporting the Taliban. After all "British" Pakistanis are going to fight with them. This is how to destroy a country in 60 years. Not that our continental and Scandinavian cousins are doing much better. As Enoch said, a country - and a continent - heaping up its own funeral pyre. Apparently a Mumbai style attack on the olympic village is feared. Good of us to give them the idea. And they only live next door in Tower Hamlets (where once the cockneys lived) so they could be back home in time for tea.
A most eloquent speech indeed. Pity some of our so called political elites couldn't be offering up their own speeches about similar topical subjects with as much thought put into them as has obviously been put into this one by the Baron.
Pity also that we have all been far too trusting of those we have elected to office and are only now beginning to realize the consequences of our stupidity.
The question now is; how will it all end?

The question is, how will it all end?
When I was a kid, Nemesis, I couldn't abide "Alice in Wonderland". It was like being caught in a fever dream; very disturbing indeed. I read the first few pages & then slammed that first book shut for thirty years.
Yet now, when I see your question, some of the dialogue from my subsequent adult immersion in those adventures comes back.
This one, for instance:
"The question is," said Alice, "whether you can make words mean so many different things."
"The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be master -- that's all"...
Clever? Yes. Prescient? Partly. Certainly the punch line has served as a working motto for many a totalitarian enterprise.
The wonderful thing is that even as those in charge of the word portals try their damnedest to be master they ultimately fail to remain in control.
Things will get worse: the fever and entrancement haven't broken yet. When they do, there is no telling what novel arrangements will kalidescope into place.
Technology, an angel often mustered into service for evil ends, is veering out of the control of those "in charge". And the harder they try to get a grasp on it, the more elusive and protean it becomes:
Google's Schmidt Says China's Great Firewall Will Crumble
[Yes, Schmidt is probably trying ot make himself feel better. But that doesn't make his prediction wrong]
Leonard Cohen put it well:
..."There is a crack, a crack in everything;
That's how the Light gets in"...
Indeed. And it's one of the reasons ornery Americans cherish that flaw in our Liberty Bell.
Echoes of the Karma Dude's laughter...
You sure did hit a nerve over at LGF.
And you're definitely right about karma. LOL!
