“It’s Pretty Late in the Day”

Congressman Trent Franks (R-AZ, a man I hold in high esteem) questions Assistant Attorney General Thomas Perez about the Obama administration’s commitment, or lack thereof, to First Amendment rights.

Mr. Perez’ appearance is just one of a long series of videos in which the underlings of the Obama administration waffle and weasel their way through congressional hearings. Janet Napolitano, Eric Holder, and Paul Stockton have been among his illustrious predecessors.

Many thanks to Vlad Tepes for uploading this video:

Uncle Kepha believes that the most dangerous shortcoming of the Obama administration is it tenuous appreciation for the First Amendment. Elena Kagan, whom Obama named to the Supreme Court, supports 'hate speech' legislation. When Terry Jones burned the Qur'an, the administration launched a full-scale attack on a hitherto obscure nobody, when it should have explained to the world that the same Amendment that protects an imam's right to blast Kufr in his sermons also protects Jones' right to [ill-advisedly] burn a book. Last of all, the administration's demand that religious organizations pay for abortion and birth control coverage shows a fundamental disrespect for the demands of a non-Marxist conscience. When you see this scene, it reminds you of Germany. Only that in Germany, there is no-one like Trent Franks - just the likes of Thomas Perez.
