Portuguese labor unions brought the country to a standstill today by staging a general strike. Workers were protesting the latest austerity measures proposed by the government to meet the conditions for another EU bailout. Coincidentally, the Fitch ratings agency downgraded Portugal’s debt today, due to the country’s less-than-optimal economic outlook.
In other news, a new report says that the increase in the minority population in the United States — up by 2% since the 2008 election — may guarantee the re-election of Barack Hussein Obama. The overwhelming majority of minority-Americans prefer Mr. Obama over any Republican, according to the latest polls.

The largest minority in the USA is now Hispanic. They are by no means a monolithic vote. They do tend strongly toward democrats, but up to 40% are potential Republican votes. I am part Hispanic. Third generation or maybe more. When a minority is well assimilated, they have little if any interest in voting for economic or socially far left issues or candidates. Muslims may be another issue however, I don't know if they they will ever assimilate. Shariah should not be allowed to gain a foothold. They must pledge allegiance to their new home, or be kicked out. The problem is that the left wing has adopted Muslims as an ally to pursue socialism with. National sovereignty and culture is at stake.
There is also a significant danger from Asian groups, which have been largely abandoned by racial preferences and are beginning to embrace "pragmatic" applications rather than legislative guarantees.
That is to say, Asian groups that seek racial preferences generally act by working to increase the ability of the Chinese government to influence actual policies of Western governments and companies, making selecting Asians for visible leadership positions a business necessity for them. At the national level, this means granting trade and financial concessions to China (particularly with regard to the transfer of advanced technology and infrastructure) that are not in the long-term interests of the West.
The indirect nature of this action makes it less visible than overt legal provisions to enhance the influence of other minority groups. The only counter-strategy is for international trade groups to continue to hold the line on refusing to support human-rights abuses by Beijing through favorable trade and technology partnerships. America in particular has to get serious about counter-espionage with regards to advanced military technologies...the Chinese save hundreds of billions on advanced weapons development because they have better access to the end result of every secret project than the Pentagon has.
Medical partnerships also need to be curtailed sharply. Transferring medical technology to China doesn't save lives, it only makes it ever more profitable for the government to murder their people for dissenting against the regime.
This has a limited relation to the work of counter-jihad other than through the fact that the Chinese are responsible for directly flouting attempts to restrain Islamic regimes from developing WMDs and for pressuring Western governments to accept unhealthy policies with regard to immigration and trade.
