A wave of anti-Wall Street protests has spread across the United States, beginning with a march on the Brooklyn Bridge yesterday during which 700 people were arrested. The movement has taken up the slogan “Occupy Wall Street”, and has spread thought to other cities, including Boston, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Denver. Some observers believe the anti-capitalist initiative is not really grassroots, but rather an unofficial extension of President Obama’s re-election campaign.
In other news, a tax revolt against the Greek government’s austerity measures has begun. To protest draconian new taxes, small businessmen are banding together under the slogan “We won’t pay!”
Meanwhile, former Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi has vowed that he will fight on, and plans to remain in Libya until he attains martyrdom.
