20% of Spain’s young people are unfit for any form of non-menial employment, nor do they hold the basic educational certifications to enter job training. These workers left school early during the real estate boom and got jobs as laborers in the construction industry. Now that the real estate sector has imploded, they are out of work, with no prospect of employment or training.
In other news, the Swiss franc, which is mostly unaffected by the debt crisis afflicting the dollar and the euro, has reached new highs against those two currencies.
