Gates of Vienna News Feed 7/2/2010

Gates of Vienna News Feed 7/2/2010A number of Chinese provinces and municipalities have made a concession to striking workers by raising the minimum wage. Labor trouble has been so widespread that the government was forced to take note of it and act.

In other news, growing numbers of Germans of Turkish descent are moving “home” to Turkey, only to discover that they don’t really fit into Turkish society. Meanwhile, a Bulgarian MP has accused a fellow member of parliament of being a vampire.

@Netanyahu must play for time

The peace-crazed Israeli media enthusiastically reported Arafat’s lies to the Israeli people without questioning either Arafat’s motives or his honesty.

Their peace is the destruction of Israel, Netanyahu at all times must dismiss from his mind the civilised natural inclination for peace with one of survival.

Why Obama is Sabotaging U.S. Economic Growth

The health of America's economy has a direct effect upon the state of its military readiness. Damaging the former impairs the latter.

Interfering with America's ability to properly defend itself is TREASON.

First Bush and now Obama; What is it that so many modern US leaders have no compunction about delivering Americans unto their enemies?

what is crazy about wanting peace? What most people don't really understand about the appeasement movement in Britain during the 30s is that the middle class the upper class and the working class had sacrificed there children. Most felt it was for nothing, certain towns were in fact devastated. Acrington and Sheffield were devastated. The British recruited pals battalions where men from the same area were recruited and fought together. America has built a national monument near a village which had the most casualties during the Normandy landings. It is most honorable and decent to honor your dead, I am not belittling it, but compared with the decimation of the pals battalions on the Somme in 1916 it was nothing, areas of many northern towns were in permanent morning. Once you understand this it is easier to understand why they didn't want to sacrifice there children in a war with Germany that they thought would be a repetition of the first world war. Hindsight is always 20/20 vision and it is always wrong to judge history from the present. During the phoney war Churchill himself explored the possibility of using mechanical trench digging machines.

What usually happens during an existential threat, as happened in Britain in 1940 is the survival instinct takes over, Israel will be not different

Zenster there is no economic growth because there is no surplus energy to sustain it, world oil production peaked in 2005, no surplus energy, no growth, it is as simple as that.

I can't remember the name of the American religious fundamentalist who said that Haiti's problems were caused by the fact that they had made a pact with the devil to rid themselves from French colonialisms. This sort of mental lunacy is not just a Bulgarian problem, think Iran.
