Gates of Vienna News Feed 6/19/2010

Gates of Vienna News Feed 6/19/2010The World Cup is occupying much of the public’s attention all over the globe. Now is the time for Iran to nuke somebody, because no one outside the blast range would notice — they’d be too busy staring at the TV broadcast from South Africa.

One-third of German employees are allowed by their employers to watch the World Cup while they are at work. Yesterday, unfortunately, those who watched saw their team beaten by Serbia for the first time in 37 years.

In a related story, a woman in Cape Town burst her windpipe while blowing on a vuvuzuela.

In other news, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is pushing for the ruble to replace the dollar as the world’s reserve currency.

Excellent intro to the news feed, Baron. Having been born and grown up in a place where watching goddamn soccer games seem more important to most people than showing up for work or school, buying tickets to see them in stadiums more important than spending the money on food or medicine for one's family, and occasionally, people might also shoot each other over arguments involving their favorite clubs (and, 20 years ago, at the age of 14, I came to the conclusion that it simply didn't make any sense to be part of the hordes that thought and acted like that; moreover, after realizing that being a soccer fan wouldn't make me anymore intelligent, attractive to the opposite sex or wealthier, I actually started hating both the game and people's fanaticism for it), I couldn't agree more on the sheer pointlessness and stupidity of the global soccer fever.

This whole thing is so bad that it's about the only thing that makes mahoundians in different parts of Dar al-Openseweristan not see themselves just as members of the umma, but as Egyptians, Algerians and Saudis. It's so bad that it can make large numbers of otherwise civilized Western Europeans behave like a bunch of sub-human, behind-the-Homo-sapiens-on-the-evolutionary-scale beasts in their post-match celebrations where vandalism and physical violence against people who happen to be in their way is all too common.

And, in the place where I was born, one can perfectly apply both the fanatical frenzy and the fearful fatalistic apathy that Sir Winston Churchill employed to refer to the dreadful curses laid by mohammedanism upon its votaries to describe the effects of soccer in their lives, though that dreadful place is not a mahoundian nation.

The ruble as a global reserve currency! Medvedev evidently has a sense of humour.

Incidentally, whereas Paris had its counter-Islamisation protest on Friday, there will be a small 'One Law for All' protest against sharia in London this afternoon. However, I have my reservations about it, as the organiser has ulterior motives and has attacked other elements within the UK's counterjihad movement: http://durotrigan.blogspot.com/2010/06/london-one-law-for-all-protest-20-june.html

Global Poll Shows Muslims Leery of US and Obama

Muslims around the globe remain uneasy about the U.S. and are increasingly disenchanted with President Barack Obama, according to a poll that suggests his drive to improve relations with the Muslim world has had little impact.

So much for all your pathetic bowing and scraping, BHO.

Among the seven countries surveyed with substantial Muslim populations, the U.S. was seen favorably by just 17 percent in Egypt, Turkey and Pakistan and 21 percent in Jordan. The U.S.’s positive rating was 52 percent in Lebanon, 59 percent in Indonesia and 81 percent in Nigeria, where Muslims comprise about half the population.

And we are sending exactly how many billions in aid to these Islamic cesspits? Just so they don't hate us as much?

“You get a sense of Muslim disappointment with Barack Obama,” said Andy Kohut, the Pew president, who attributed it to discontent with U.S. policy on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and to expectations raised by Obama’s Cairo speech.

The lesson to be learned by Western powers is: NO AMOUNT OF BOWING AND SCRAPING IS EVER ENOUGH TO SATISFY THE CRAVEN MUSLIM APPETITE FOR SERVILITY.

Islam means "submission" and woe is the fool who forgets that fact.

Well Zenster, I've always known that, unless Buraq Hussein replaced the US Constitution with sharia and put Michelle and their two girls in Mein-Qurampf-33:59-compliant mobile tents, surrender speeches and overtures to mahoundians on his part would only result in contempt and more demands...

That's just what one can expect from making their every move on mahoundians based on advice from a jihadist-breeding, half-male mobile tent such as Dalia Mogahed, whose intentions certainly are to make the US look weak in mahoundian eyes; and, since mahoundians only respect what they FEAR, that mobile tent wants nothing more than to embolden its (not her) fellow black-stone worshippers through Hussein's pathetic displays of vulnerability.
