Our Swedish correspondent LN emailed us this morning with a couple of items from the New Multicultural Sweden. First, the latest from Law Enforcement:
This is the new Swedish police car.
Are they perhaps expecting something?
And then he talked about Sweden’s extensive efforts to combat “discrimination”:
This is the logo of DO, Ombudsmannen mot etnisk diskriminering, the Ombudsman against ethnic discrimination (or perhaps the Dhimmification Ombudsman).
The left hand is holding a sphere, and the same left hand is pressing away an identical sphere. Use it as a projective test of your frontal lobes!
I suppose the message is that the two spheres are not treated equally. A genius must have been at work. Skaal!
DO has got an office of almost sixty administrators and lawyers. The latest case resulted in a municipal office having to pay damages of SEK 160,000 ($27,175) to a Bosnian Muslim who did not behave in a normal Swedish way by saying hello and shaking hands with a woman, and thus did not get the job. He was “religiously discriminated against”.
In Rome you do not do as the Romans do any longer.
I did a little research on the Discrimination Ombudsman, and found the website for Ombudsmannen mot etnisk diskriminering. There is an English language version of the instructional page on how to file a complaint about discrimination. When you open the drop-down list to choose your language, this is what you see:
- - - - - - - - -
- ¿Discriminado/a? (sp.)
- Arabiska - هل تعرضت للتمييز العنصري؟
- Cudahî dîtin? (nordkurd.)
- Discriminado/a? (portug.)
- Discriminated? (eng.)
- Diskriminatsia? (kelderari)
- Diskrimineerattu? (meänkeli)
- Diskriminiert? (tyska)
- Diskriminirani? (bosn/serb/kro)
- Diskriminirim/o/i? (rom.arli)
- I diskriminuar? (albanska)
- Jesteś dyskryminowany? (pol.)
- Jiddisch
- Laejhteme (sydsam.)
- Persiska - آيا مورد تبعيض واقع شده ايد؟
- Ressentez une discrimination? (fr.)
- Ryska - Вы подвергаетесь
- Somaliska - Fal takoorid ah
- Sydkurdiska - ههڵاوێردراویت؟
- Syrjitty? (fi.)
- Thailändska - ถูกกีดกัน?
- Türkçe (Turkiska)
- Vealahuvvon? (lulesam.)
- 你是否被歧视?(mandarin)
Do you notice anything about that list?
Swedish — svensk — isn’t on it.
The list includes North Kurdish and South Kurdish, but not Swedish.
In other words, it’s impossible to discriminate against a “person of Swedish background”.
The page offers the following enticement to a discriminated-against person of non-Swedish background:
Discriminated? (eng.)
Were you bypassed for the job you sought and believe it’s because you wore a veil or head cloth? Were you denied an apartment and believe it’s because you have a foreign name? Do your classmates say insulting things about your skin color, your ethnic group or your religion?
If the answer is yes, then you could have been the victim of ethnic or religious discrimination. There are laws that prohibit discrimination in different areas of society.
What DO can do for you
If you have been the victim of ethnic or religious discrimination you can file a complaint with the Ombudsman against ethnic discrimination (DO). You can call our advice line, phone: 08-508 887 00. You can receive legal support free at this number. You do not need to tell us your name when you call for advice.
DO can even represent you in Court. Send your complaint by e-mail or regular post to DO. You can obtain the form for filing a complaint by downloading it from our website or by calling and ordering it.
This is DO
DO is a government agency with nearly 50 employees. The ombudsman is Katri Linna, who has been appointed by the Swedish government. DO works to prevent and stop all forms of ethnic and religious discrimination in society.

If I were a person of Swedish background residing in the nation formerly known as Sverige, I know what I’d do.
I’d deluge the offices of the Ombudsman against ethnic discrimination with phone calls, faxes, emails, and postal letters. Every day I’d write a message in Turkish, Somali, or Yiddish (since Swedish isn’t permitted). In it I’d detail the horrendous discrimination that I, as a helpless person of Swedish background, experience at the hands of Swedish officialdom.
Every day. Repeat as often as necessary. Keep those cards and letters coming, folks!
I’d make those fifty-odd employees of DO earn their generous salaries. I’d keep them hopping. They’d be so busy filing memos — and writing me back to tell me that my case had no merit — that they wouldn’t have time for coffee or falafel breaks.
That’s what I’d do if I were Swedish.

Of course you won't find Swedish on the foreign language page. Duh!
In the Swedish section there all you need to know to file a complaint. In Swedish, no less!
I am reminded of a passage from the BIble where the antichrist (i.e., Islam) would be worshipped and dissenting opinion would be cut down. That is what the political elites are doing. It's no worse than the Nazi thugs who did not tolerate dissension of the Nazi program. In this case, the government is doing the same thing, the thought police will make sure that the new rulers are glorified and those who dissent will be punished.
"The list includes North Kurdish and South Kurdish, but not Swedish.

That is sickening.
But you haven't noticed what I have. There are only languages spoken by Third Worlders (LSTW).
Where are the Norwegian, the German, the Dutch, the Danish, the Czech, the Russian?
But of course, we couldn't miss North Kurdish, could we?
I wonder if there are no Norwegians or Danishor Germans being "discriminated" by ethnic Swedes. Maybe they are too white...

If what Kim said is truth, you have commited such an error Baron...
Duh! lol :)
Not obstanding, only the existance of this "institution" is disgusting.
Kim Hartveld --
I'm sorry; I should have used the irony mark (؟) to indicate that I was not serious.
Actually, since "persons of Swedish background" are an ethnic group, just like any other ethnic group, then svensk should have been listed, in the interest of fairness. Otherwise it's discrimination.
What does rom.arli mean? Because surely that language is not Romanian. I don't understand a word.
Sadly, I must confirm the picture painted here. Sweden has probably the craziest political leadership in the world. There is really no official opposition either. None of the parties in parliament oppose the general line of politics. The press is even more politically correct than the politicians and agree to a frightening degree on questions like immigration and integration.
Sure, among people in general there is a large, but rather lame, opposition. People allow themselves to be bullied. The danes are much tougher: they voted for Dansk Folkeparti and have been rewarded for this. But most swedes who oppose this politics do as they are told and vote for one of the established parties on election day.
The opposition is slowly getting more organized, but things are not easy. We fight against a much stronger foe, and what is more critical - the indifference of the general public. Like I said, people have reasonable opinions deep down, but they need to be awakened.
No Danish or Norwegian is mentionned either - This is distasteful to the point of actually encourage those with an idea of some imaginary victimhood - In fact they should be filed for discrimination themselves against Norwegians and Danes.
There is Jiddisch but no Hebrew either, so Israelis can't file any complain either if it is anti-semitism.

You messed up a bit with your asterisks, so I fixed them. :)

Well, this is UNBELIEVABLE. UNf***ingBELIEVABLE. It seems that the so-called Romani (gypsy) language exists, but not the Romanian language.
According to the Swedish state, an Indian dialect of an ethnic minority is legitimate for complaints against discrimination, but not an official language of an European country. Officially, according to the Swedish state, a minority has the right to exist, but not a nation.
Please, I want to sue them for discrimination.
Sorry Baron, but I am too furious to pay attention to asterisks.
Imagine that someone says that the official language of your country is Spanish, because you have an important Mexican minority. How would you feel about it? Practically, this is what Swedish site states about Romania.
Imagine that someone says that the official language of your country is Spanish
We dont have to imagine it... that's the way it's been for a while.
Armance, you didn't get it.
It is a compliment to the Romanian people!
If it weren't for Brazil, Angola, and other seven or eight third world countries, I would be offended if Portuguese was in that least.
I would be offended if I was a Pole, though. Being put together with the Third Worlders.
The English and French is not for English or French either, they are to Kenyans and Senegaleese. Or something of the sort
/sarc on
I find it to be discriminatory that Swedish talking people get a page of their own while the DO lumps all the minorities into one page, like they're riff-raff... The DO bureaucrats are obviously not suited to their jobs as they give ethnic Swedes positive treatment... Shame on them!!!
/sarc off
What about the Sami language? Arent they considered to be the only indigenous peoples of northern Scandinavia? Weren't they oppressed at some point? Does this not earn them the right to eat at the trough?
Oh, im sorry. I forgot. Wrong skin tone. I guess the Salem witch trials have taught the world nothing.
Afonso,
Thanks for your warm and ironic support. I appreciate your sense of humour. Yet, that language is called rom.arli and I don't understand a WORD from it. My language is related to your language. I can understand at least 50% of what you say without learning a word, the same about Italian and Spanish. Nevertheless, from the so-called Romani language I am not able to understand 2%. But according to this Swedish site, this dialect is more visible than my language.
Sigh... The PCism is supportive for minorities, at the same time discriminating against whole nations. Maybe I am provincial and sentimental (who cares about a people of 20 millions in the Balkans?), but I am so proud that my language is of Romance/Latin origin, I tried so hard to learn it, and now I've found out that Gypsy is the official language of my people.
Thank you, Sweden!
Indeed Afonso, this is how I interpreted it too. And yes, the Poles were the odd ones out.
Spackle --
It looks to me like 2 kinds of Sami are represented on that list:
"Laejhteme (sydsam.)"and "Vealahuvvon? (lulesam.)"
But I don't know that for sure. Maybe our Finnish or Swedish readers can tell us.
There's also this: "Syrjitty? (fi.)" which is obviouslt something from Finland, but is not what we would call Finnish, which is (I think) Suomi.
All correct, Baron. You are getting good at this!
Slightly related to this grievance industry post: Neo Quakerism - The imperial creed of Wilsonian America
Baron-
I stand corrected. I guess Sweden is okay after all. :) I still wonder how long it will be before the Sami lose there status? Once again they are the wrong complexion and european.
Armance, you wellcome.
But seriously, there is something I really can not understand. I am sure our languages are both latin but, would you really understand 50% of Portuguese?
I find it hard to imagine but every single Romanian I know says it is easy and that the languages are very close.
I would say that I may understand
85% of Castillan Spanish; 79% of Italian; 65% of French and 5% of Romanian!
I really do not understand how you people understand us but we can not apreend ten percent of your words... for me, everything North of Southern France and East of Venice requires as to study the language first.
Funny...
PS- I do not understand the Spanish spoken by El Salvadorans either. Maybe Romanians colonised that part of the Americas...
I only recently discovered writings of George Jonas, but he drives home the point about all the anti-discrimination nonsense perfectly:
Human rights vs. human ambitions
"The trouble with human rights commissions is that they don't know from human rights. They think it's Tom's human right to work for Dick. In reality, to work for Dick is only Tom's human ambiion. Tom's human right is to ask Dick for a job without a government telling him that he can't (or that he must). And Dick's human right is to hire Tom or not hire him without a government telling him he has to or that he mustn't.
Discriminatory behaviour is what people engage in when they exercise their human rights. A human right is to choose; to be chosen is a human ambition. Legitimate as an ambition may be, it cannot trump a right -- unless the state puts its big foot on the scales"
Now, George Jonas has also written how silly - indeed, idiotic - would it be to reject applicant just because person is of particular ethnicity, just because person is Muslim, gay, black, etc. It is acting idiotic - to consider anything but the individual's qualifications and suitability for a position.
But choosing to be an idiot is a human right, too. If one does believe in humanity, and if the state does effectively guarantee human rights (not ambitions), the idiots ought to remain in minority. There ought to be enough individuals, who will not act as idiots when hiring, renting out apartments, selling their services, etc.
Once those human rights, including the right to choose (including to be idiot), are trampled by government in the name of defending human ambitions, the society is no longer free.
It's really quite simple and natural when someone lays it out the way George Jonas does, yet his writings struck me as something profound :)
zarxos: you should read the comments first :)
Haha! Sooner or later we'll need tanks?
I don't know if this car shall be used in suburbs where youth throw stones at the police when they or the fire fighters appears. It's possible, and at least they will be used at large scale robberies where the police seldom succeed in catching heavily armed criminals.
-
Offtopic stuff: At a school a few miles from where I live -- pupils between 9 and 15 years of age -- I just heard is constantly watched by the police, every day, because of continously serious threats and common disorder. About 85 percent non-swedes (*) in the area and, I think at least 90-95 percent at school.
(*) Non-Swedish background.
In muslim non-governmental schools Swedes who are members of the Swedish church (most Swedes belongs to the church) are told that they have to leave this membership. I guess that DO will never accuse a muslim school for doing this. In fact we Swedes belong to the majority culture and shall not complain about what a minority do to anyone! We Swedes are intrinsically oppressive when we, as a part of a majority, think something about non-swedes which isn't explicitly positive!
Is this stupid? Politician say we need more immigrants to come and work. It doesn't matter the employment rate among forigners is 50 percent with low incomes compared to 80 percent and a higher imcome rate among all Swedes, or that 4 out of 10 immigrants are from Africa, Middle East or "Asia" and thus will belong to a fraction of immigrants which will have an above 50 percent unemployment rate.
I wonder if Canada is as stupid in immigration politics as we are? Too many western countries are too stupid in immigration anyway.
Can we find a nice Israeli to start filing complaints against this agency. There is nothing written in Hebrew. Oh well, they discriminate against Jews. I guess that is legal now in Sweden.
GET RICH QUICK in SWEDEN
A legal practice has evolved in Sweden whereby any Swedish citizen who is not a "person of Swedish background" - i.e. not belonging to the indigenous Swedish population but in most cases has an exclusive immigrant background - can bring legal action against anyone they allege has hurt their feelings or insulted them, in reference to gender, sexual orientation, skin colour, religion, nationality and more and with damages amounting anywhere from $2,000 to $25,000 USD, under penal code (brottsbalken) 16:8 - a totally insane rubber paragraph. More can be read about this legislation here at Vidare:

.
Anybody in Sweden can become a victim of this modern thievery. The DO (DhimmificationOmbudsman) and her staff will assist the offended party in all the legal matters and after a minor judicial proceeding the money is confiscated from the offender by the state and then handed directly to the offended party. The law is so lax that you could conceivably ask any foreignlooking Swede the time, to which they might decide to take offense and set the police on you from their cellphone. If the offended party can produce a willing witness, the case is guaranteed to be won.
.
We indigenous Swedes are today governed by a system that cares more about strangers than of us - that prefers to provide for the wellbeing of strangers than for us; we "persons of Swedish background", who together with our ancestors has built the country and who, by an uniquely in the world high taxation, make it possible for our repugnant power-elite to attend, without consent of us the people, to residence and subsistence for all these strangers from totally alien cultures.
For the obvious purpose of making money an immigrated muslim woman and her son falsely and intentionally accused a 73 years old Swedish pensioner for having thretened to kill her - she demanded SEK 50,000 ($8,500) in damages.
.
On the blogsite http://mordhotadmuslima.blogspot.com/ please read a description in condenced form in English of an event that probabely will become increasingly common as time goes on and the friction between various immigrants of non western origin and ethnic citizens are increasing. The condenced story was originally published at Gates of Vienna:
http://gatesofvienna.blogspot.com/2008/05/offense-against-multiculture.html
.
The present event has been reported to the police by the muslim party as a murder threat, and the police absurdly suspects the pensioner for having thretened to kill the muslim woman.
.
After the short description in English of this case there follows the unabridged original argumenting description in Swedish, actually in form of a 'polis(counter)report' for false denunciation and unlawful threat.
.
Please spread the URL: http://mordhotadmuslima.blogspot.com/ around the Net in order to break the silence around this absurd accusation and this travesty of law.

(1) There is no other ombudsman but DO who can - will - shall(!) interfeare!
(2) The Attorny General (Justitiekanslern) has officially declared:
Syftet vid tillkomsten av straffstadgandet 16:8 var att tillförsäkra minoritetsgrupper av skilda sammansättningar och bekännare av olika trosuppfattningar ett rättsskydd.
In Sweden people are not equal. Minorities are more valuable to the powerelit than the indigenous Swedish population, who by their own prime minister in front of congregated Middle Eastern and African cultural enrichers were declared to be of barbaric origin.

I noticed some worrying words about the sami´s. I must say, don’t worry about them. They have their own parliament, to only those of "samiblood" (well, almost like that) are entitled to vote. That’s not racist, is it? Not if you ask the ones who instituted it, they did it under some argument that "Sami knows what Sami needs".. sort of. The question is; when do we see more of those racist parliaments? Or maybe more specific; How long before city of Malmö has somewhat of a parliament for their..... Well most of you know how Malmö looks like these days. This is one of the many absurdities in multicultural social engineering, where the "anti-racists" use culture as/with ethic-based ground.
As for the posting: Swedish is not an official language of Sweden, nor is Swedes an ethnic group according to law and cannot be discriminated against. The last goes hand in hand with non-western thinking due to everybody are not equal in front of the law, in this times with "hate crime"-legislation and what not.
First time commenter here on GoV, I really should fire up my skills in English.
So welcome Marthin!
I do not dominate English completley either.
You think Malmö is bad, don't you?
Does Malmö look like this or this?
Well... but you know, these ones are not muslims (yet) they are very Christian (they and the Communists).
I am one of the immigrants that speak one of the languages you have been discussing about. Briefly! The reason that the Swedish language did not appear in the list was that the language which the text was written was Swedish and there was no need for the language to be rewritten again and again. The Swedish person can write and speak his/her language as they want. They are not like us, we are newcomers and we may need help in the beginning. I was welcomed in Sweden when I arrived and I am so thankful for those who did it be they the current regime or the Swedish public as a whole. For those like you who are against this noble hospitality, I would just say time will hopefully teach you how to be hospitable and welcoming to a person who migrated from another country to yours in search for peace and protection. I would not have come to Sweden or ended up here in Sverige if I have had protection in my country. Likewise most of immigrants in Sweden; If you in case have been in our position we would have done the same thing in the name of humanity, not of our ethnicity, racial or religious beliefs – but a bare humanity.
Please be patient with us in the course of our stay here in Sweden, we will only be here as long as you, the Swedish public welcome us.
Regards,
Salaam
Salaam,
I was welcomed in Sweden when I arrived and I am so thankful for those who did it be they the current regime or the Swedish public as a whole.
I'm guessing it was the current EU/Swedish regime and not the cowering Swedish public who facilitated your asylum into Sweden.
Free countries are supposed to be governed by the consent of their people not by regimes. Though clearly the Swedish regime has betrayed the Swedish people through mass noble hospitality.
If you in case have been in our position we would have done the same thing in the name of humanity, not of our ethnicity, racial or religious beliefs – but a bare humanity.
Salaam,
That might be difficult to confirm.
You have not stated what country it is that your originally came from or what oppression it is you were specifically fleeing from.
Perhaps Islam had something to do with it.
Please elaborate.
Salaam,
My case had nothing to do with religion. It was something else, it is not important to mention it.
Fair enough,
On the other hand, I am so surprised why you are much inclined into the incitement of religious discussion.
Because I think religion is the most influential force in world history - especially since the decline of Communism.
Many people are confused about the differentiation of the words, “Islam and Muslim”. Islam is the religion and Muslim is the follower of this religion.
I am aware of that.
Most of the religions in this world we live do not advocate for immorality but their followers may do many immoral things in the name of their respective religions.
Yes but religions morality varies from one religion to another so even if followers of all religions behaved perfectly according to their religion they might still disagree with each other on what true morality is.
As the epistemology of your name tells me, you are uneducated brat! who is oblivious of what he is doing or saying at this age and time.
Not at all.
The reason I am throwing this supercilious sentence at you is that to make you rethink again and look into your name once again, “Islamophobia” in English does mean, “Prejudice against Muslims”.
My name is not "Islamophobia", it's is "Islam O'Phobe" which is a pun on "Islamphobe" and Irish surnames. Technically "Islamophobia" means an irrational fear of Islam, not prejudice. My name is meant to express my ridicule for the concept of "Islamophobia", as to my mind worrying concerns about the Religion of Peace are entirely legitimate.
This made-up word "Islamophobia" only came into use among Muslims spokesmen and Western politician after Islamic terrorist organisations began declaring jihad against the West and committing acts of mass murder in the name of their religion, particularly the World Trade Center attack.
Now doesn't it seem a little preposterous to you that at the very moment Islamic terrorists launch an Islamic holy war against the Western world the concept of "Islamophobia" - which attempts to frame all misgivings about and opposition to Islam as form of mental illness - comes into common parlance?
I believe only uneducated people like to say bad things about others and like to do immoral things.
I must say that is a very strange belief. What makes you think educated people don't behave in immoral ways? A good education can help build knowledge and analytical skills but cannot immunise anyone to human nature.
By the way, I am sorry if I hurt your feelings. Nothing personal!
Not to worry. You didn't.
Regards,
Islam O'Phobe
Salaam,
Your comment was deleted because it violated Gates of Vienna rules re the discourse here.
As you can see when you open the Comment Box, it says:
Gates of Vienna's rules about comments require that they be civil, temperate, on-topic, and show decorum....
You violated the rules by using a pejorative name to describe another commenter.
Let me clarify by showing you your mistake here. You said --
As the epistemology of your name tells me, you are uneducated brat! who is oblivious of what he is doing or saying at this age and time.
In formal rhetoric, Salaam, what you did there is an ad hominem attack -- i.e., calling someone an "uneducated brat".
The fact that your etymology of Islam O'Phobe's name is wrong is beside the point. One is allowed to be wrong here, you're just not allowed to be rude while you're being wrong.
BTW, a "phobia" is not a prejudice or hatred. It is fear, plain and simple. The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines it thus:
an exaggerated usually inexplicable and illogical fear of a particular object, class of objects, or situation.
It is from the Greek, "photos" and is mainly used in medical or clinical terms. Thus, there is a disorder called "arachnaphobia". It is a very common reaction to spiders; many people are afraid of them.
English is a very flexible language. Neologisms are created all the time. Thus, after 9/11, after the reality that 11 Muslim men had deliberately killed themselves and others in what appeared to them to be a religious mission, people were looking for a word to describe their gut reaction to this tenet of faith.
Americans are always the wise guys. We like irony and we like to poke fun at ourselves and others. Thus, islamaphobia, or islamophobia (take your choice) was invented to describe what people were feeling...and what they were feeling was fear.
If 11 Mormons had done that on 9/11/2001, then we'd be having discussion of Mormonophobia. But it wasn't Mormons, you see. Nor were they Hindus, or Catholics, or Lutherans...
Thus, where free speech is still permitted, islamophobia is a convenient term for people who fear there will be more attacks, like the ones in Saudi Arabia, or Mumbai, or London...
Your religion is carrying a lot of baggage. Maybe you yourself don't ascribe to these Muslim Brotherhood notions, but enough of your fellow-believers do that the world is a more dangerous place than it was.
Such is life, Salaam...
Meanwhile, read the posting rules again, please.
