But it’s not your father’s war anymore.
For example, consider what the Washington Post has to report about the current status of the terrorists who were behind the bombing of the USS Cole.
Remember the USS Cole? Back in the waning days of the Clinton administration, a motorboat full of explosives sidled up to the destroyer while it was refueling in Aden. The terrorists on board the boat blew themselves sky-high, put a huge hole in the side of the Cole, and killed seventeen American sailors.
President Clinton swore that he would hunt down the masterminds behind the attack and bring them to justice. When George W. Bush succeeded him in the Oval Office, he reaffirmed that promise, and further emphasized it after September 11th.
But almost eight years later it turns out that, with the exception of the two Al-Qaeda members who were captured on the battlefield and shipped to Guantanamo, none of the perpetrators remains in prison in Yemen. Those who were incarcerated were either released or “escaped”, some of them several times. In fact, except for a few low-level flunkies, none of the perps ever really did hard time. The high-level masterminds, in collusion with Yemeni intelligence or the government, have never faced more than house arrest, and mostly not even that.
The tough stance that President Bush took towards Yemen in the fall of 2001 has all but disappeared. Between the indifference of the administration, the incompetence of the FBI, and the ineptitude of the State Department, none of the terrorists responsible for killing those American sailors has faced even major inconvenience, much less actual justice.
The attention deficit disorder the administration displays towards the issue is, unfortunately, not confined the Cole incident. Both the terrorists and the ruling thugs of Third World hellholes know that if they just throw us a bit of diplomatic doublespeak, put off the ambassador and the envoys with polite promises, and wait for a couple of years, the crisis will blow over and we go back to business as usual.
In the case of Yemen, you can’t even blame it on the oil, because the country doesn’t have any. The principal products of Yemen are dust, dung, and flies.
Oh yes, and Muslim terrorists. Mustn’t forget them.
- - - - - - - - -
So our ineffectual responses have to be put down to simple incompetence and our habitual way of practicing diplomacy with Third World despotisms — who, by the way, remain “our staunch allies in the War on Terror”.
All this was brought to mind when a reader wrote me this morning with two tips. The first one concerned the video I linked to at the top of this post, and the second one referred to the recent directive issued by our government that requires all agencies to forswear the use of the words “jihad”, “mujahideen”, “Islamic terror”, etc.
I presume most readers have heard about this latter abomination. If not, it’s easy to google up links to the news stories about it. Suffice to say that our own government — the people elected by us and installed in office to respect our Constitution and protect the American people — have decided to do the equivalent of sticking their fingers in their ears while chanting “LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA! I CAN’T HEAR YOU!” in the face of Islamic terror.
The penetration of our government by the Muslim Brotherhood, via front groups like CAIR and ISNA, may now be considered complete. The language we use must be changed so that we are no longer able to describe the enemy we face and the nature of his murderous ideology.
After I watched the William Frawley video, I wrote our tipster back:
Couldn’t happen any more, alas. I hate to say it, but I don’t think that kind of spirit can come back to this country without a virtual decapitation of the leadership class, and then where would we be?
Instead of that kind of fighting spirit, we get Obama and Oprah. Win this war? War is an outdated concept, a propaganda ploy of the patriarchy forced upon the masses by the military-industrial complex to increase profits for the ruling class.
Or some such s**t.
The children are running the country now, and by the time they realize they need Daddy’s help, Daddy may be hard to find.
It’s early in the morning, and I’m ranting.
This nonsense about banning the word “jihad” is just the latest in a long series. I should be outraged, but my outrage gland is almost worn out. The Muslim Brotherhood’s infiltration of the federal government is extensive, both parties are in the pockets of the Saudis, and there is no will at the top to name the enemy or deal with the real problem.
We are actually worse off than Europe, because our people are still asleep. We’re obsessed with stupid trivia — and despite the loathsomeness of Obama and Hillary, I consider this election trivial, because McCain is only a micron better, and will not protect our borders. He has, however, demonstrated his willingness to suppress our freedom of speech.
Europe has a better chance, because its people are actually beginning to wake up. I can’t see that happening here for at least 10 years, by which time I’ll be too old to do this crap, and during which time President McCain, or President Clinton, or President Obama will likely have ordered the Marines ashore in Serbia or France to intervene against the indigenous Europeans on behalf of the oppressed Muslims who are being targeted by right-wing fanatics.
Don’t think it can happen? It has already — twice.
That’s why I’m concentrating on Europe, where there’s at least a prayer of success within my lifetime.
Sorry — you poked at me, so you got The Rant.
I’m not sanguine about the immediate future of the USA. Long-term, yes, but not immediate.
By the time we wake up, millions of people will already be dead, and some of them will be Americans.
I’d like to say that sober reflection has changed my view, and tempered the pessimism of that email, but it hasn’t.
All I can do is pin my hopes on the Danes. Keep your eyes on Denmark, because the Vikings are the ones who are leading the West out of this mess.
Holger Danske is stirring…

Baron, I've been pondering a "war-game" scenario today re: USA and Europe. One problem is organizing the freedom loving Minutemen or Holger Danskes and the other is what side will the military, excluding the General Officers Corps, support?
It might be a good thing for a "Seven Days in May" to happen but getting them to relinquish control might be problematic.
Small groups of "dissenters" would be too susceptible to arrest by local or national law enforcement. How do you get an effective million man march together?
And how would one stop the blood-letting that might spring from from pent-up rage?
Is it possible to fight an uncivilized enemy in a civilized manner?
So many questions and maybe too little time.

Well, too bad you have no hyperlink to email this article. I know of several old folk that I would have sent it to.
You damned bloggers make it too hard to get your news out.
AND OLDER PEOPLE DON'T TAKE TO NEW-FANGLED CONTRAPTIONS LIKE COMPUDERS YA KNOW!!
It's depressing how much our country has changed for the worse. I mean, 60 years ago we helped the Allies defeat Nazi Germany. Gosh, I'd really hate to hear what today's people would say if we were in the situation the world was in during the 1940s. I can just imagine: our government would not allow agencies to use the word "Nazi" and not allow them to be called "anti-semitic". After all, we wouldn't want to hurt their feelings, would we?
America definitely needs to wake up, perhaps even more so than Europe. At least in Europe there are political parties (like Vlaams Belang, for example) who actually are against Islamization. Here, no politicians even talk about it, and the government isn't even allowed to use the word "jihad" anymore. It really makes me sick.

Actually, there *is* an "email post" link. Look at the end of the post area itself, right next to the date and time, and you'll see an evelope icon. Click that to email the post.
Here's a spare link to video in case No Pasaran's isn't working.

Which is why America badly needs to overcome any persistent delusions about having Muslim allies in the Global War on Terror. Ain't never gonna happen.
... the second one referred to the recent directive issued by our government that requires all agencies to forswear the use of the words “jihad”, “mujahideen”, “Islamic terror”, etc.
For the impatient, here is a link with an excerpt:
Our war on radical Islam has been hamstrung by political correctness from the start. First, we couldn't call the campaign to strike back at al-Qaida a "crusade" because Muslims found it historically offensive.
Then we couldn't define the enemy as "Islamic terrorists" because it insulted Islam — even though it accurately described the Muslims committing murder and mayhem in the name of Islam.
To appease critics, we narrowed the terminology, confining it to the jihadist element within Islam. And so officials in recent years have frequently referred to "jihad" or "jihadists" in public.
Only now they can't describe terrorists as "jihadists," either, because Muslim leaders complain that it, too, gives Islam a bad name. But jihad, or holy war, is a central tenet of the faith. In fact, jihad is often referred to as the "sixth pillar of Islam."
Even "mujahedeen," or Islamic freedom fighter, is a no-no in the new watered-down Washington lexicon. And "Islamofascism" is definitely out.
Why don't these effete blouse wearing panty-waisted poodle-walking bastards just come out and say it?
ISLAM IS OUR FRIEND!
The above is what you get when the enemy is allowed to define our terms.
From the New York Post:
Besides, to pretend that jihadists - oops, the new preferred term, says Washington, is "violent extremists" - don't view themselves as religiously motivated simply is silly.
As the prominent author and theologian Richard John Neuhaus has written, "Jihadism is the religious-inspired ideology [that teaches] that it is the moral obligation of all Muslims to employ whatever means are necessary to compel the world's submission to Islam."
That's not mainstream Islam, of course. And it certainly doesn't represent all Muslims. But to deny its connection to Islam is to deny reality.
Denial ain't just a river in Egypt.
The language we use must be changed so that we are no longer able to describe the enemy we face and the nature of his murderous ideology.
No better time to trot out the words of Srdja Trifkovic:
The elite class has every intention of continuing to “fight” the war on terrorism without naming the enemy, without revealing his beliefs, without unmasking his intentions, without offending his accomplices, without expelling his fifth columnists, and without ever daring to win. Their crime can and must be stopped. The founders of the United States overthrew the colonial government for offenses far lighter than those of which the traitor class is guilty.

Gregory, just copy/paste the article and provide a link to the blog
I would imagine the U. S. is negotiating intensely with Yemen over permanent access to a certain area I will not name--similar to the old arrangement with Cuba over Guantanamo. Maybe that is why the Bush Administration suffers their fools , but less than gladly.
I am so frustrated with Al Gore and his global warming fear mongering. His is distracting everyone from the real threat to civilized humanity. He has, in effect, sucked all the oxygen of reality out of the room. Coupled with multiculturalism, excessive narcissism, and lazy mindedness society in general is has become politically asphyxiated. They can not, or don’t want to, recognize the 500 pound Islamic gorilla in the room. We desperately need to find political leaders with the courage to confront and stop the spread of radical ultra orthodox Islam. Otherwise, global climate change(s) will be the least of our worries. The mere survival of civilization is at stake.
The people that have manipulated, or gamed, the political systems well enough that they now occupy positions created to provide leadership have failed miserably to effectively perform the duties associated with those positions. They claim that they want to improve our lives and protect us from danger. Unfortunately these dangers are either inconsequential, such as hurt feelings; or they are perceived dangers that are not fully validated let alone controllable such as global warming. Unfortunately the only leaders with the courage and convictions to take action are the least desirable such as Chavez, Ahmadinejad, Putin, and Osama bin Laden.
But you never know. Maybe Al Gore secretly hopes Islam will win. The thought control police guided by the Imams will stifle independent thought and personal initiative. World wide industries will slowly grind to a halt. No production. No CO2. Agri-businesses will shutdown. No large dairy or beef cattle herds. No large scale farming. No food. No people. No problem. Soon there will be no more Anthropogenic Global Warming.
The Cole Family Survivors need to stage a White House Gate protest about this derelection of duty.
The media loves anti-Bush events, therefore it would get coverage.
And, in this case, GWB deserves one.
Are we going to win this war?
No.
Here's the best part though:
Neither will anyone else.
Oh, they think they will, to be sure. Humans are nothing if not supremely arrogant. And also supremely stupid. Every single time we've come to this point, human incompetence...human NATURE screws everything into an overstressed steal cable that invariably snaps. It'll take us a few more centuries to rebuild from it, but we will...until it's time to do it again.
At least until we actually get good enough we take the whole planet with us...or evolve past this rut we're stuck in. I'd say place your bets, but by the time it's decided, we'll all be well beyond caring.
Which is why America badly needs to overcome any persistent delusions about having Muslim allies in the Global War on Terror. Ain't never gonna happen

There, fixed it for you Zenster.
Yes, Baron, it's not my father's war any more.
Funny, I don't remember Fred Mertz or General McArthur or the Secretary of War approving waterboarding, sleep deprivation, and other NKVD-inspired methods against Japanese POW's (yes, there were a few of them) to extract information. While I do remember that Japanese civilians were unjustifiably herded into concentration camps, I don't remember any of these U.S. citizens subjected to NKVD-inspired methods as happened to U.S. citizen Jose Padilla. The Ex Parte Quirin "They Came to Blow Up America" gang were quickly executed, but they weren't subjected to Gestapo-inspired torture sessions to "soften them up."
Yes, Baron, it's not our Father's war any more, is it?
I do not think we will win the war. Perhaps David is correct, a collapse and die-back. But in that case, the most barbarous win.
The active Fifth Column in the West has gained strength to the point that a WW II effort is no longer possible. And yes, Gordon, rough interrogations and detentions have been used. Why do you think - because our agencies enjoy torturing people? The alternative is to wait until Muslims commit an attrocity so heinous that the deciision to kill them all becomes possible - and the Fifth Column ends up hanging from lamp posts.
Multiculturalisn, Postmodernism, and the other strains of Cultural Marxism are a malignancy in the heart of the West.
About the Coole-insident :
There are 2 different aspekts to it ,the military and the political.
From the military angle ,it seems incredibly stupid to let ANY small boat get close enough to do damage to a major warship
An Israeli patrolboat the size of a bathtub would have blown that thing to a lot of small, sinking pieces before it got inside 300 meters,no questions asked.
I hope the US Navy learned a lesson from this, about what it means to be in the middle east.
From the political point of wiev, the best thing to do with countries like yemen would be brake off ALL kinds of contacts with them , until they would fullfil a clear and VERY demanding set of criteria .
While this ofcourse would be impossible to do with major oilexporting countries,a good START would be with countries like yemen ,sudan and syria.
We already know what the end result might look like , because SOMALIA has done the isolation process to itself voluntarily !
Our best chance of destroying Islaam is to let it do most of the work by itself; this is why the mohammed-cartoons was such a sucsessful event, because it gave the muslim world a splendid oportunity for shooting itself in the foot.
We have to find more and better ways to help them do that.
When a muslim country turns into a " failed state" it has reached its logic and natural destiny . We should help them reach that, and then break off all contact ,including trade and "humanitarian assistance.
Anything else ,and it is US who shoots ourselves in OUR foot.
". . . dust, dung and flies . . . and Muslim terrorists . . ."
Isn't that redundant to the third power?
Well, I know I am commenting from Portugal but I heard through the Mass Media that the Irish Prime Minister, yes, that country that HAS TO HAVE a REFERENDUM over the LISBOn Treaty has just resigned and that he strongly supports the realisation if a Referendum over the Lisbon Treaty.
Is it right? Any Irish there? Dymphna? A "real" Irish from Ireland?
Also, I am waiting an article about that, Baron...
Thank you.
Afonso, the Irish are indeed going to have a referendum over the Lisbon Treaty. They constitution was just too clearly formulated for the politicians to get away with anything else.
The EUrophiles are bordering on panic due to plummeting polls. Head over to EUobserver for more independent commentary on the issue, you may want to visit OpenEurope, who openly advocates a 'No' in the referendum.
As for real Irishmen, I guess us Danes are of little help - sorry...
Completely Off-Topic I know, but found this in my travels and thought you might be interested. Doesn't break the ToS either.

From the Baron’s link:
The fact is that Islam and secular democracy are fully compatible – in fact, they can make each other stronger. Senior officials should emphasize that fact.
This drooling insanity is nothing short of treason. Islam and democracy have no common ends. Period. In fact, Islam regards democracy as one of its biggest threats, if not the biggest of all:
What Al-Ayyeri [who was once one of Osama bin Laden's closest associates] sees now is a ''clean battlefield'' in which Islam faces a new form of unbelief. This, he labels ''secularist democracy.'' This threat is ''far more dangerous to Islam'' than all its predecessors combined. The reasons, he explains in a whole chapter, must be sought in democracy's ''seductive capacities.''
This form of ''unbelief'' persuades the people that they are in charge of their destiny and that, using their collective reasoning, they can shape policies and pass laws as they see fit. That leads them into ignoring the ''unalterable laws'' promulgated by God for the whole of mankind, and codified in the Islamic shariah (jurisprudence) until the end of time.
The goal of democracy, according to Al-Ayyeri, is to ''make Muslims love this world, forget the next world and abandon jihad.'' If established in any Muslim country for a reasonably long time, democracy could lead to economic prosperity, which, in turn, would make Muslims ''reluctant to die in martyrdom'' in defense of their faith.
He says that it is vital to prevent any normalization and stabilization in Iraq. Muslim militants should make sure that the United States does not succeed in holding elections in Iraq and creating a democratic government. ''If democracy comes to Iraq, the next target [for democratization] would be the whole of the Muslim world,'' Al-Ayyeri writes.
The al Qaeda ideologist claims that the only Muslim country already affected by ''the beginning of democratization'' and thus in ''mortal danger'' is Turkey.
''Do we want what happened in Turkey to happen to all Muslim countries?'' he asks. ''Do we want Muslims to refuse taking part in jihad and submit to secularism, which is a Zionist-Crusader concoction?''
Al-Ayyeri says Iraq would become the graveyard of secular democracy, just as Afghanistan became the graveyard of communism. The idea is that the Americans, faced with mounting casualties in Iraq, will ''just run away,'' as did the Soviets in Afghanistan. This is because the Americans love this world and are concerned about nothing but their own comfort, while Muslims dream of the pleasures that martyrdom offers in paradise.
[emphasis added]
Got that? "... democracy could lead to economic prosperity, which, in turn, would make Muslims 'reluctant to die in martyrdom' ". Democracy and prosperity are Islam's enemies. Doesn't this explain a whole lot about the current state of most MME (Muslim Middle East) countries, if not all Muslim majority countries in the world?
In other writings, MPAC's more nuanced approach involves accepting, not isolating, terrorists. It repeatedly has lobbied to remove Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hizballah from the U.S. list of designated terrorist groups.
More drivel. Given the clear and irrefutable evidence that Hamas and Hizballah are both TERRORIST GROUPS, shouldn’t those who attempt to circumvent such demonstrably correct labeling be highly suspect, if not designated a terrorist group themselves?
It is clear that the current terrorist threat to the US emanates from Al-Qaeda and not Palestinian groups. There is no evidence that Palestinian groups designated as terrorist organizations have any connections to Al-Qaeda.
Whoa! Wait one minute. Back up there. What—if any—connection is there between those two sentences? Aside from further obscuring Muslim perfidy, that is. Al Qaeda is not the sole threat to America and it matters exactly Jack $h!t if Hamas and Hizballah have no connections to bin Laden’s organization. This is classic Muslim doublespeak and it means nothing. After all, what about:
Hamas threatens attacks on US
The Hezbollah in America: An Alarming Network
As the Baron's article also notes:
Suicide attacks are staples of the methods of each group. The imposition of Islamic law, or Shariah, is a goal stated by each.
Per M. Zuhdi Jasser [president of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy]:
In Muslim majority nations the radicals call themselves Muslims, Islamists, and Jihadists in Arabic and every other language with little time spent admonishing society not to call them what they call themselves.
Got that? How is it that this fact escapes our own political and military leadership?
Jasser goes on to note:
For the USG to paternally dismiss the self-described nomenclature of ‘jihadists' and "Islamists" is to in fact embark into a realm which really is an internal struggle within the consciousness of the Muslim community. We should call the terrorists what they call themselves. Once any Muslim, let alone non-Muslims, begins to determine who is and who is not qualified to define ‘jihad', ‘Muslim', or ‘Islam' they are creating a clergy and a ‘church' with a communication and excommunication process. That is exactly what the likes of Bin Laden and other radical Islamists want.
And this is exactly what Bush and the Politically Correct Thought Police are doing their darnedest to make happen. TREASON.
This form of ''unbelief'' persuades the people that they are in charge of their destiny.
This bears repeating. Over and over :)
This form of ''unbelief'' persuades the people that they are in charge of their destiny.
This bears repeating. Over and over :)
In many, many ways. It's the absurdity of Islam written large. According to Islam we have absolutely no control over our destiny - none at all. You can be a "good muslim" your entire life only to find, when you die, that Allah has decided he doesn't like you. Off to hell you go! Any other faith, you make your own destiny. There are ways to know which direction you're going in, up or down (as it were) beforehand, which gives you that sense of destiny. Islam denies you even that small pleasure. It's like Calvinism taken to its extreme.
What a horrible way to live.
