Through the Back Door

Charles Johnson (Little Green Footballs for our European readers) put some disturbing information up on Tuesday…

…or rather the content is disturbing, but the method of dissemination of information is quite intriguing. Perhaps we’d better start paying more attention to the back door of the MSM.

Osama bin LadenCharles says:

ABC News seems to be using The Blotter (their “blog”) as a dumping ground for stories that they don’t want to put on their main web site. Tonight they have a scary report that an Al Qaeda cell is either in the US already or on the way.

Hmm… I wonder what other media outlets are using their blogs to report information that is (a) scary, and (b) they can disown if things get too hot.

Here’s ABC’s blog post on Al Qaeda in the US:

Senior U.S. intelligence officials tell ABC News new intelligence suggests a small al Qaeda cell is on its way to the United States, or may already be here.

The White House has convened an urgent multi-agency meeting for Thursday afternoon to deal with the new threat.

Top intelligence and law enforcement officials have been told to assemble in the Situation Room to report on:

  • what steps can be taken to minimize or counter the threat,
  • and what steps are being taken to harden security for government buildings and personnel.

Here’s my favorite sentence from this post:
- - - - - - - - - -
Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff told the Chicago Tribune editorial board on Tuesday he had “a gut feeling” that an attack was coming.

Maybe “gut feeling” is code for “male intuition.” The helpful thing about feelings - whether they emanate from the bowels or the brain - is that you can hastily and handily disown them if they turn out to be hogwash. In the case of Mr. Chertoff’s hunches… umm, on second thought, let’s not go there.

But who’d have thought ol’ Allie Q actually had cells in the continental US? My heavens, what will they dream up next? Before you know it, they’ll be claiming Al Qaeda can ram airplanes into skyscrapers.

I leave you with a question: how come the White House hasn’t been convening these crucial meetings every week since 9/11?

If anyone else reads the MSM blogs regularly and sees this kind of back door information, please let us know. The front pages are smeared with Paris Hilton and Nancy Pelosi (I know, same thing) so I don’t usually visit. However, if you read the MSM blogs and happen upon something like Charles Johnson is reporting, do let us know.

Yes interesting isn't it how the MSM buries the most important news in their blogs. Fascinating.

I have read this blog for a long time, but never commented. When will we stand up? Call your congressmen/senator and complain, just like we did with the shamnesty bill. We all know that they are entering this country, most likely, legally, and I think we need a moratorium on all immigration from certain areas. We cannot expect the government to handle this correctly, this is in our hands. Speak up or be complacent and face the cosequences.

oops I meant consequences! :)

That's why the Center for Vigilant Freedom -- originally the 910 Group -- formed. Because we realized we *are* on our own. Fortunately, in America, we are not yet as muzzled as they are in The European Empire, so we have to act while there is still time.

OTOH, you probably wouldn't be surprised at the number of people who don't know the names of their Congressional district representative or their state's senators. You have only to look at the election turn out percentages to know it falls to the few to effect change.

The huge reaction to the amnesty bill was encouraging, though. I'll bet people who don't even vote called on that one. It was one loud American yell: "ENOUGH!"

And it was heard, loud and clear.

Of course, Chertoff immediatelly started dragging his feet. I'm sure glad these people weren't in charge of our response in WWII.
